Men's Cross Country Compete at 50th UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team finished 20th overall out of 38 teams competing at the 50th UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday.

UP NEXT:
  • The Hawks will travel to Lehigh University next weekend for the Paul Short Invitational. The men's race is set for a 9:30 a.m. start time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior captain Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.) finished with a time of 26:51.66 to lead the men's squad in the varsity 8K race. Junior Steven Cormier (Reading, Mass.) also cracked the top 100 with his 27:06.48 finish.
  • Following closely behind was sophomore Neil Harrington (Malden, Mass.) coming in 136th place after clocking in at 27:41.72.
  • Graduate student Alex Horan (Clifton, Va.) finished with a time of 28:02.26 while senior Adam Wong (Westminster, Mass.), senior Trevor Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.), sophomore Christian Wetzel, and senior Tyler Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) rounded out the varsiry race for Saint Anselm.
  • In the sub-varsity 8K race, freshman Clifford Teixerira (Nashua, N.H.) and classmate Adam Holodowski (Milford, N.H.) lead the Hawks with their 25th-place and 26th-place finishes, respectively.
  • Sophomore Andrew Keene (Kennebunk, Maine) posted an 8K time of 28:29.94, good for 53rd-place with senior Josh Nottebart (Pelham, N.H.) right behind him in 54th-place.
  • Senior Patrick Kennedy (Milton, Mass.) captured a 71st-place finish with a time of 29.21.30. Sophomore Brandon LeBlanc (Wrentham, Mass.) was the last Hawk to crack the top 100 after crossing the finish line in 29:43.63.
  • Finishing in 101st -place for Saint Anselm was sophomore Thomas Sullivan (Arlington, Va.) who was followed by freshman Diego Infante (Marlborough, Mass.) clocking in at 31:48.71.  
  • Rounding out the sub-varsity race for the Hawks was senior Chris Yapp (Stow, Mass.), senior Andrew Pitney (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and junior Nick Longo (Bridgewater, Mass.).
HAWKS SPOTLIGHT:
  • "I was really proud of how the men performed today given the heat," said senior Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.). "This race is always a lot of fun and we had a lot of fast times across the board. From here we continue to work hard and put the miles in as we build towards our championship season. I am so excited to see what we can do and to continue this epic season."
