9/15/2023 2:40:00 PM

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm football team kicks off week three and opens Northeast 10 Conference play when it plays host to the Yellow Jackets of American International College (AIC) this Saturday, Sept. 16 at 2pm.
The Hawks enter week three in search of their first victory of 2023, having lost the first two non-conference contests. AIC enters the contest with a record of 1-1, earning their first victory last week in a non-conference match-up with Franklin Pierce.

Last Time Out - Saint Anselm
Tiffin (Ohio) spoiled the Hawks home opener last week, forcing eight turnovers en route to a 42-7 victory at Grappone Stadium. The Hawks posted 209 yards of total offense on the afternoon and time of possession was essentially even for the contest, but four fumbles and four interceptions proved too much to overcome. Anthony Santino finished the day with 153 yards passing on 19 completions and threw one touchdown. Vincent Wagner had 12 carries for 44 yards and was the team's leading receiver, posting 48 yards on four catches. Carson Goda found the endzone for the fist time this season, catching four passes for 39 yards. Defensively Devin Wood and Will Klein each had seven total tackles while Klein added three tackles for loss and forced one fumble.

Last Time Out - AIC
On a night where Mother Nature tried her best to crash the party, the American International College football team won a back-and-forth battle with Franklin Pierce University, 27-24, in non-conference play on Saturday, September 9. Cephas Williams totaled 368 yards in the air and four touchdowns. Brian Lafrance, Fatir Bell, and Seba Nekhet each totaled 75 yards or more, and Sidiki Kone broke 100 yards for the second week in a row between his 96 rushing and 39 receiving. Benjamin Smaw led AIC with nine tackles and also broke up two passes.

Series
AIC holds the all-time series advantage, having posted 18 wins to the Hawks five, dating back to the first matchup in 2001. Saint Anselm has had the hot hand of late, winning four of the last five meetings between the two programs. Saint Anselm has also won three straight match-ups including two last season, a 56-7 home non-conference win in week 2 of 2022 and a 27-20 road win to close the 2022 season.

Look Ahead
Saint Anselm closes out a three game home-stand next Saturday when it hosts Post University on Family Weekend. In the first match-up between the two programs last season, Saint Anselm picked up the 24-20 victory in Waterbury, Conn.
