HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first quarter, both Millersville and Saint Anselm showed their defensive strength holding each side to just one shot apiece. Senior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) registered the first shot of the game for the Hawks late in the quarter but was blocked to keep the score level at 0-0.
- The Marauders broke the goal drought at the 11:07 mark in the second quarter after Kristin Strijdom drilled the ball in front of the Hawks net where Qhayiya Nogoduka was able to tap the ball past senior goalkeeper Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Twp., Maine) to make it 1-0.
- Saint Anselm quickly responded thanks to senior Abbey Bevens (Pelham, N.H.) who stripped the ball from a Millersville defender and rocketed a shot through three Marauders to tie the game at 1-1.
- With under a minute left in the first half, Emme Ruley crossed the ball to a diving Nogoduka, notching their second goal and giving the Marauders a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.
- Millersville continued to put pressure on Saint Anselm's defense, winning an early penalty corner in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Junior Grace Michael (Hampton Falls, N.H.) tallied her first defensive save of the season after Strijdom ripped a shot on goal. The Hawks however were unable to clear the ball out of danger before Nogoduka put the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-1.
- Late in the fourth quarter, Saint Anselm's attack started to build some momentum earning back-to-back penalty corners, but the match would end in a 3-1 final score.
