Starting under-center for Saint Anselm was junior quarterback Anthony Santino (Woodbridge, N.J.), completing his first two passes for a total of 12 yards on the opening drive. The Hawks defense held the Marauders to just one first down throughout the first quarter.
- Early in the second quarter, the Hawks had 1st-and-10 on the Millersville 21 yard-line and advanced the ball downfield thanks to an 11-yard pass from Santino to junior receiver Carson Goda (Bradenton, Fla.). The following play, fifth-year runningback Vincent Wagner (Staten Island, N.Y.) carried the ball 10 yards for a touchdown to give Saint Anselm a 7-0 lead at 13:08.
- The Marauders responded on their third possession of the quarter, converting on 3rd-and-4 on the Hawks-19 on a rush up the middle. Saint Anselm held a one-point advantage after Millersville missed the extra point to make it 7-6.
- Millersville quickly regained possession after a Santino pass was picked off by Gus Ross and returned eight yards to the Saint Anselm-26. The Marauders capitalized on the next play with a 26-yard touchdown pass to put Millersville ahead. Junior Austin Spille (Austin, Texas) blocked the extra point to keep the score at 12-7 heading into halftime.
- Midway through the third quarter, Millersville struck again after marching down the field to the Saint Anselm 12 yard-line. Robert Footman Jr. rushed down the middle to the Hawks' end zone and scored a two-point conversion to give Millersville a 20-7 advantage.
