Zachary Abbott (Gloucester, Mass.) all saw action out of the bullpen.
The Falcons would strike first in the top of the second inning as back-to-back singles set up a sacrifice bunt from
Brian Lindsay, advancing both
Stan DeMartinis III and
Steve Rizzuto to second and third. After Reminder got a strikeout to get to two outs in the inning,
Joe Cacciatore singled to plate the pair of runs, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
Bentley added three more runs in the top of the third inning. A pair of hits and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for the Falcons and Rizzuto would convert on the scoring chance with a sacrifice fly, pushing the score to 3-0. Lindsay followed with a two-run single following the sac fly to extend the lead to 5-0.
The Falcons added a sixth run in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from
Tim Zupkus, scoring Cacciatore who singled to lead off the frame.
The Hawks responded with a grand slam in the bottom of the frame to make the score 6-4. Sophomore
Ryan Scialabba (Cheshire, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice before senior
Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) and freshman
Ben Rose (Webster, N.H.) loaded the bases via a walk and a hit by pitch. Panarello would send his eighth home run of the season down the left field line for the four-run big fly.
Saint Anselm got to within one following Panarello's home run. Collins extended the inning following a fly out and would score from first on a double from Williams, which pushed the game to a 6-5 score.
Bentley crossed the plate four times in the top of the sixth inning. After loading the bases, one run would score on a wild pitch before a second run scored on the play on a throwing error. The Falcons reloaded the bases later in the frame and would score two more runs on a double to right field from Rizzuto, giving Bentley a 10-5 lead.
After a ground out advanced a pair of runners to second and third, a single by Zupkus plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning which made the score 12-5 for the Falcons.
The Hawks brought home three runs in the bottom of the ninth on a three-run home run from Doran. That cut into the Bentley lead, making the score 12-8. However, a strikeout would close the contest in the next at-bat.
Saint Anselm opens its final four-game conference series on Thursday, May 4 at Assumption. The first pitch is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
