PREVIEW: No. 15 Men's Lacrosse concludes regular season against Assumption for Senior Day

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team concludes its 2023 regular season on Tuesday, Apr. 25 with a Northeast-10 Conference battle against Assumption University.

Prior to the start of the contest, Saint Anselm will honor its 15-member Class of 2023 with pregame senior day ceremony.

The Hawks suffered a 10-9 loss to nationally-ranked Pace University on Apr. 19, marking the team's most recent contest. Saint Anselm enters the final game of the 2023 regular season with a 7-3 record and a 6-3 mark in conference contests. The Hawks have secured one of the top-six spots for the upcoming NE10 postseason with the opponent and time to be announced. The opening round game with be played on Saturday, Apr. 29.

The Greyhounds concluded their home slate on Apr. 22 with a 16-9 win over American International College, improving to 4-9 on the season and 2-7 in conference contests. Tuesday's contest will be the final in the 2023 season for the Greyhounds.

  • Saint Anselm came in at No. 15 in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Men's Lacrosse poll, which was released on Monday.
  • Seniors Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.), Jake Athanas (Manchester-By-The-Sea, Mass.), Andrew Bonavita (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Jon Cattabriga (Barnstable, Mass.), Will Davis (Franklin, Mass.), Ethan Dolan (Littleton, Mass.), Ryan Finneran (Andover, Mass.), Will Harvey (Franklin, Mass.) Will Kezerian (Melrose, Mass.), David Olsen (Salem, N.H.), Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.), Ryan Slattery (North Andover, Mass.), Callen Willwerth (Northborough, Mass.), and Craig Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Student-Assistant Coach AJ Caprio will all be honored in the Senior Day festivities.
  • Andrews became just the seventh Saint Anselm men's lacrosse student-athlete to reach the 100-career goals mark in the contest against the Setters. Andrews leads the Hawks with 23 goals this season while ranking second with 27 points.
  • Robinson is second on the team with 17 goals and has added nine assists for 26 points.
  • Junior Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) is the Hawks assist leader with 15 and is the team leader with 30 points, adding 15 goals to his 15 helpers.
  • Junior Chase Lilly (Trumbull, Conn.) and sophomore Joe Lombardi (Holliston, Mass.) have netted double digit goals for the Hawks this season.
  • Yannone leads the Hawks with 53 ground balls this season. He is 81-for-140 from the faceoff "X" this season, which is good for a 0.579-win percentage.
  • Yannone ranks second in program history in career ground balls with 207. The senior needs just 19 grounds balls to match Matthew Steele '14 for the program record in that category.
  • Junior Jonathan Holland (Derry, N.H.), Dolan, Slattery, and junior Henry Alford (Southborough, Mass.) lead the Hawks with 13, 12, and 11 caused turnovers apiece.
  • Slattery is tied for third in program history with 65 caused turnovers and can move into second all-time with eight caused turnovers.
  • Olsen ranks second in the NE10 with a 7.60 goals-against average while sitting in sixth with a 0.541 save percentage. The senior has made 79 saves in 10 starts for the Hawks this season.
SCOUTING ASSUMPTION
  • Nolan Sheehan leads the Assumption offense with 29 goals scored this season. Ryan Healey follow closely at 27 with four other Greyhounds contributing double digit goals this season. Sheehan and Healey are tied for 10th and 13th in the conference in goals.
  • Healey leads the squad with 11 assists which brings him to a team-high 38 points this season. Cameron Theriault is second on the team at 10 assists.
  • Nick Polymeros owns a 0.523 faceoff win percentage, totaling 101 wins in 193 draws. He also is the Greyhounds leader in ground balls with 56.
  • Tom Raeke has caused a team-high 19 turnovers with Jack Galvin and Aidan Boyle posting 15 and 14 causes each.
  • Colin Malone has started in all 13 games for Assumption from the cage. Malone owns a 0.539 save percentage and a 12.15 goals-against average which are seventh and eighth when compared to the rest of the conference.
ALL-TIME vs. ASSUMPTION
  • Saint Anselm and Assumption have battled 29 times in the all-time series, with the Hawks enjoying a 22-7 record against the Greyhounds.
  • The Hawks have won each of the last seven meetings and nine of the last 10 in the series.
  • Saint Anselm and Assumption concluded the 2022 regular season on Apr. 26, 2022, marking the most recent contest between the two sides. The Hawks collected a 16-8 win from Worcester, Mass. in that meeting.
