The Hawks moved up to eighth in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Men's Lacrosse National Poll after dropping their first road contest of the season to No. 1 Le Moyne College by a 9-8 score. Saint Anselm enters play on Saturday with a 2-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in NE10 play. Following the battle with the Panthers, Saint Anselm will host crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, Mar. 28 with the opening faceoff slated for 4 p.m.
The Panthers improved to 6-0 and 2-0 in conference action with a 17-7 win over the Penmen on Mar. 18. Adelphi is ranked No. 5 in the most recent USILA Division II Men's Lacrosse National Poll and will head to The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday, Mar. 28 after Saturday's tilt with the Hawks.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) matched a game-high three goals in the contest with the Dolphins. Andrews leads the Hawks with nine goals and 11 points, adding two assists through the team's opening three games.
- Juniors Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) and Nick Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) rank second and third on the team with nine points (2 G, 7 A) and eight points (5 G, 3 A) apiece. Noah Larsen leads the team in assists
- Nick Larsen is tied with junior Chase Lilly (Trumbull, Conn.) and senior Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.) for second on the team with five goals each.
- Freshman Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.) leads the Hawks with 12 ground balls this season. Gannon has won 20-of-34 faceoffs this season which is second to senior Craig Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) who is 21-of-38 from the faceoff X.
- Senior Ryan Slattery (North Andover, Mass.) and junior Jonathan Holland (Derry, N.H.) have caused four turnovers apiece for the Hawks defense this season. Saint Anselm opponents have turned the ball over 64 times through three games with the Hawks causing 27 of them.
- Senior David Olsen (Salem, N.H.) has started all three games in the cage for Saint Anselm. He is 2-1 with a 7.17 goals-against average and a 0.565 save percentage, totaling 26 saves on 46 shots on goal. Olsen has allowed the second fewest goals in the NE10 and owns the fourth-best save percentage.
- Saint Anselm ranks fourth in the NE10 in goals-against average at 7.67 while the offense is currently fifth in scoring per game at 13.67.
SCOUTING ADELPHI
- Adelphi leads the NE10 in total goals scored with 106, averaging 17.67 per game, and are led by Joseph Duchnowski, Logan Tucker, and Brian Harinski who all have netted 12 goals each this season.
- Eamon Hall is the Panthers leader with 12 assists this season. Hall has added 10 goals and is tied with Duchnowski for the team lead at 22 points through six games.
- Brian Hoerter and Hugh Keenan have won 43 and 42 faceoffs respectively this season. Hoerter is the Adelphi leader with 30 ground balls this season.
- Ryan Butler has caused nine turnovers through six games, which is the most on the roster.
- Dylan Renner is 6-0 in six starts in the goal for the Panthers. Renner has a 5.22 goals-against average and a .623 save percentage which first and second in the conference.
ALL-TIME vs. ADELPHI
- This will be the 16th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Panthers. Adelphi has won each the 15 previous meetings.
- The programs last met on Mar. 26, 2022 from Garden City, N.Y. The Panthers snuck away with a 15-14 win in that contest.
- In the all-time series, five of the contests have been decided by one goal with two of the five one-goal games reaching overtime.
