MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team opens its spring semester with a pair of matches from the Sunshine State on Wednesday, Mar. 22 and Thursday, Mar. 23.
The Hawks will play Atlantis University in an exhibition match from Miami, Fla. on Wednesday before batting Nova Southeastern from the NSU Tennis Complex in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. the following day.

The Hawks fall portion of the season came to a close with a 4-0 loss to Le Moyne College in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Conference postseason. Saint Anselm had qualified for the six-team NE10 Championship for the first time since the 2010-11 season. The Hawks enter the spring season with a 4-9 overall record and a 3-5 mark in NE10 play.
The Sharks improved to 11-1 on the season and 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference play with a 6-1 win over Florida Southern on Mar. 19. Nova Southeastern has won each of its last seven and will head to the top ranked team in the ITA Division II National Poll, Barry, on Wednesday, Mar. 22 before hosting the Hawks.
HAWKS NOTES
- In the fall semester, the Hawks posted a non-conference win over Plymouth State on Sept. 15 before netting NE10 wins over Assumption on Sept. 26, Bentley on Sept. 28, and Saint Michael's on Oct. 15.
- Freshmen Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) and Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) have posted 8-4 and 7-5 records in singles through the fall. Garbo has played all of her singles matches at No. 1 while Heredia Osante owns a 6-2 record when playing from No. 5 singles.
- Garbo is tied for eighth all-time in program history for wins at No. 1 singles in a single season. Heredia Osante is tied for fourth in a single season in the same metric, but at No. 5 singles.
- Heredia Osante claimed All-NE10 Third Team honors in late October and was named to the conference's All-Rookie Team. Garbo also earned a spot on the All-Rookie squad.
- The doubles pair of Heredia Osante and sophomore Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Maine) lead the Hawks with a 7-4 record. The duo is 6-3 when playing from No. 3 doubles and is 1-1 at No. 2.
- Garbo and sophomore Olivia Parzick (Bow, N.H.) follow closely with a record of 6-5, all coming from the No. 1 doubles slot.
- In February, Elizabeth Lincoln was named the Head Women's Tennis Coach at Saint Anselm. Lincoln becomes the 12th person to lead the women's tennis program since its inception in 1976.
- Saint Anselm is also scheduled to meet Holy Cross, American International, and Daemen (N.Y.) in the spring semester with the matches against the Yellow Jackets and Wildcats coming from the Hilltop.
SCOUTING NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
- The Sharks are ranked No. 5 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Team Poll.
- Julia Razafindranaly owns a 10-2 record in singles this season with a 9-2 mark from No. 1 singles. Razafindranaly ranks 15th in the ITA Division II Singles National Poll.
- Five Sharks student-athletes have posted eight wins in singles play this season including Natalie Espinal who is ranked 31st nationally.
- Fatima Bizhukova and Espinal are the top ranked doubles pair in Division II according to the ITA National Poll. The duo is 8-1 on the season, all coming from the No. 1 doubles slot.
- In 2021-22, the Sharks posted a 25-4 overall record and saw their season come to a close in the Final Four of the NCAA Division II Championship.
ALL-TIME vs. NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
- This will be the first meeting all-time between Saint Anselm and Nova Southeastern in women's tennis.
- The Hawks will be playing on the Nova Southeastern campus for the second consecutive season as the team battled Atlantis and Wayne State (Mich.) on Mar. 13, 2022.
