The Hawks, who moved up to No. 9 in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Coaches' Poll, improved to 2-0 on the season with a 17-6 win over No. 18 Bentley in non-conference play on Mar. 11. Following the first road game of the season, the Hawks will return home to host No. 4 Adelphi on Saturday, Mar. 25.
The Dolphins improved to 4-0 with an 11-3 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Mar. 8, marking their most recent contest. Le Moyne is the top team in the USILA Division II Coaches' Poll and will be opening their NE10 slate against the Hawks. The team heads to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Mar. 25, following the contest against the Hawks.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) are tied for the Saint Anselm lead with eight points apiece. Andrews has netted a team-high six goals while Larsen has dished six assists.
- Senior Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.) eclipsed the 100-career points mark in the win over the Falcons and now sits on 101 career points, coming from 46 goals and 55 assists.
- In 2023, Robinson is tied for second on the team with junior Chase Lilly (Trumbull, Conn) in goals scored. Both student-athletes have found the back of the cage four times.
- The Hawks have had 16 student-athletes record at least one goal through the team's opening two games, totaling 33 goals scored while allowing just 14.
- Senior Will Harvey (Franklin, Mass.) was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring his first goal of the season and causing two turnovers with six ground balls.
- Freshman Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.) has won 20-of-34 faceoffs for the Hawks and has grabbed a team-high 12 ground balls. Senior Craig Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) has won 11-of-18 draws for the Hawks.
- Junior Jonathan Holland (Derry, N.H.) has caused four turnovers through two games in 2023, the most on the roster.
- Saint Anselm opponents have turned the ball over 43 times with the Hawks causing 22 of those. The Hawks offense has attempted 96 shots, putting 60 of them on target which is good for a 0.625 shots on goal percentage.
- Senior David Olsen (Salem, N.H.) has stopped 19 shots on goal between his first two collegiate starts. Olsen, who is 2-0 on the season, owns a 6.15 goals-against average and a 0.633 save percentage on the season.
SCOUTING LE MOYNE
- Sam Lambert leads the Dolphins offense with 14 points. Lambert has found the back of the cage three times and assisted on a team-high 11 others.
- Joey Pezzimenti and Kyle Caves are tied for the top spot on the roster with nine goals apiece. Pezzimenti ranks second on the squad at 13 points while Caves is fourth at 10.
- Ethan Loun has scored six goals and posted six helpers for 12 points this season which is good for third on the roster.
- Nico Mattia has won 42-of-83 faceoffs this season and currently leads the team with 23 ground balls.
- Matt Vavonese leads the Dolphins with four caused turnovers. Le Moyne, as a team, has been credited with 24 caused turnovers this season.
- Vavonese has started all four games in the Dolphins goal and owns a 6.67 goals-against average with a 0.621 save percentage. He has totaled 41 saves while facing 124 shots. Vavonese was named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week and the third time this season.
ALL-TIME vs. LE MOYNE
- This will be the 32nd meeting all-time between the Hawks and Dolphins in men's lacrosse. Le Moyne enjoys a 30-1 record in the series.
- The program's battled three times in 2022. The regular season meeting came on Mar. 19 from Grappone Stadium with the Dolphins sneaking away with a 7-5 win.
- Le Moyne captured a 15-11 win in the NE10 Postseason on May 4 before the sides battled once again in the NCAA Division II First Round with the Dolphins grabbing a 16-8 win on May 11. Both of those contests were played in Syracuse, N.Y.
