PREVIEW: No. 10 men's lacrosse set to battle No. 18 Bentley in non-conference play

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team will host Bentley University in its lone non-conference game of the 2023 season on Saturday, Mar. 11 from Grappone stadium.

The Hawks moved to No. 10 in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II men's lacrosse poll after downing The College of Saint Rose in their season-opening contest on Mar. 1, 16-8. Following the non-conference battle with the Falcons, Saint Anselm makes its first road trip of the season when they battle No. 1 nationally, Le Moyne College on Saturday, Mar. 18.

The Falcons, who are also in the most recent USILA Division II poll at No. 18, secured a 19-4 win over Georgian Court on Feb. 18 and were scheduled to open their Northeast-10 Conference Slate on Feb. 25, but that contest was postponed. Following the trip to the Hilltop, Bentley will host Saint Rose on Saturday, Mar. 18.

HAWKS NOTES
  • Senior Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) led the Hawks offense with four goals and one assist for five points in the season-opening win. Andrews eclipsed the 100-career points mark in that contest and now sits at 102 in 35 career games on the Hilltop.
  • Juniors Nick Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) and Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) posted one-goal, three-assist stat lines against the Golden Knights and are tied for second on the team with four points.
  • Junior Chase Lilly (Trumbull, Conn.) ranks second on the squad with three goals while sophomore Colin Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) is third with two goals.
  • Senior Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.) netted the first goal of the season for the Hawks and was featured on SportsCenter Top 10 for his behind-the-back goal.
  • Junior Jonathan Holland (Derry, N.H.) caused a team-high three turnovers, leading a group that forced Saint Rose to turn the ball over 24 times.
  • Freshman Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.) won 15-of-26 faceoffs, good for a .577 winning percentage in his collegiate debut. The freshman also grabbed a team-high eight ground balls in the contest.
  • Seniors David Olsen (Salem, N.H.) and Will Davis (Franklin, Mass.) both saw time in the cage for the Hawks against Saint Rose. Olsen, who made his first collegiate start in the season opener, made eight saves and holds a 0.615 save percentage and a 6.33 goals-against average.
SCOUTING BENTLEY
  • The Falcons collected 65 points in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was good for fifth.
  • Luke Jaber netted five goals in the season-opening win with Nathan Alviti and Conor Segreti scoring four goals each.
  • Alviti added a team-high three assists in the win over Georgian Court, totaling a team-high seven points. Segreti and Garrett Witt followed closely with two helpers apiece.
  • Alex Parton collected a team-high six ground balls and caused one turnover against Georgian Court.
  • Matt Crepeau led the team with two caused turnovers, leading a group that caused 12 turnovers and forced Georgian Court into 21 turnovers in the contest.
  • Jackson Tinsley and Nolan Sullivan both saw time in the goal for Bentley against the Lions. Tinsley made seven saves in the start, good for a 0.636 save percentage and a 5.06 goals-against average while Sullivan stopped the lone shot on goal he faced.
ALL-TIME vs. BENTLEY
  • The Hawks and Falcons will be meeting for the 29th time in the all-time series on Saturday. Bentley leads the all-time series by a 19-9 margin.
  • Saint Anselm has won five of the last six meetings, including the most recent contest on Apr. 2, 2022 from Grappone Stadium. The Hawks overcame a 10-6 halftime deficit to grab a 14-13 win.
