HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks got on the scoreboard first as senior Celesta Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) scored her second goal of the season just 9:02 into the game. A puck was dumped in from center ice behind the Post cage, but Paolucci skated directly to the right post and fired home the rebound.
- The Hawks enjoyed an 18-5 advantage in shot attempts in the first 20 minutes.
- Just seconds after falling to the ice entering the zone, senior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) skated right to the net and finished off a nifty pass from junior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) near the midpoint of the second period, putting the Hawks ahead by a 2-0 margin with the power play goal.
- Saint Anselm kept the pressure up in the second stanza, firing 26 of the period's 31 shot attempts while placing 20 of those shots on goal. At one point, the Hawks fired 15 consecutive shots on goal.
- Skating right-to-left through the slot with just under 10 minutes to go in the third, senior Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) sent a pass toward the right post where it was flipped home by Jackson for the game's third and final goal.
- The Hawks recorded 14 of the game's final 18 shots on goal and finished with the distinct 44-to-11 advantage in that metric.
- Junior netminder Annabella Lalande (Lachute, Quebec) improved to 4-2-2 in her Hawks career with her second clean sheet, halting all 11 shots on net that she faced.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm improved to 250-60-25 (.784) all-time in conference play since the program's inception in 2004-05, spanning the program's time in the ECAC East, NEHC East and the New England Women's Hockey Alliance.
- Senior Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.), among the leaders in National Collegiate women's ice hockey in face-off victories, won 13 of her 18 attempts against the Eagles.
- Saint Anselm was 1-for-4 with the extra skater while Post was scoreless on its lone power play attempt.
- Saint Anselm is now 23-0 in the all-time series against Post that dates back to the 2017-18 campaign. When playing in Manchester, N.H., the Hawks are 13-0 and have allowed just nine goals in total to Post in those games.
