HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Franklin Pierce earned an early power play opportunity just 1:40 into the contest. Freshman goaltender Courtney Stagman (Andover, Minn.) accepted the challenge, stopping back-to-back Ravens shots during the penalty kill.
- Saint Anselm quickly shifted the momentum, firing off 11 of the game's next 13 shots, forcing Franklin Pierce goaltender Olivia Klunowski to make eight saves. The Ravens also blocked two shots during that span.
- Senior alternate captain Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) came up with two huge blocks during a 10-second sequence later in the first period to keep the Ravens off the board.
- With five minutes remaining in the first, the Hawks earned a power play chance. Despite putting seven pucks on net, none got past Klunowski as the game reamined scoreless.
- Weber opened the scoring with just 36 seconds on the clock for her third goal of the season. Her goal was assisted by junior Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) on a cross-crease pass following a Ravens turnover as the Hawks headed into the first intermission with the lead.
- Saint Anselm began the second frame with two early power plays, combining for 11 shots and forcing Klunowski to make four more saves to keep the deficit at just one goal for Franklin Pierce. Stagman posted three more saves of her own before the media timeout at the halfway point of the second. The rest of the period remained scoreless with Saint Anselm heading into the locker room with their lead still intact through 40 minutes of action.
- Four Hawks penalties during the third period gave the Ravens four more extra skater opportunities, including two in the final 6:12 of regulation. Franklin Pierce ripped three shots at Stagman, but the freshman kept them scoreless.
- With under two minutes in the game, Franklin Pierce pulled their goalie for the 6-on-4 advantage. After the Ravens fought to keep the puck in the offensive zone, Herman gathered it behind her own net before skating around and firing a left-handed shot the length of the ice and into the empty net to seal the 2-0 victory for the Hawks.
