BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior
Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) scored the game-tying goal with 56 seconds remaining in Saturday's New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) showdown with Long Island University, but the Sharks tallied the game-winner in overtime to skate away with the 2-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Scoreless through the first two periods of Saturday's contest, LIU took advantage of a power play opportunity with Anna Fairman scoring at the 11:30 mark of the third period.
- With just under a minute to go in regulation, Turner found the back of the net on the power play with the goaltender pulled to even the score.
- After the goal, LIU forced freshman goaltender Courtney Stagman (Andover, Minn.) to make back-to-back saves with under 30 seconds to go, forcing overtime with the score tied at 1-1.
- With under a minute remaining in overtime, Jeannie Wallner fired home the game-winner, sealing the weekend series sweep for the Sharks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Stagman made 29 saves on the afternoon, including 10 in the third period alone, to keep the Hawks within striking distance down the stretch. Her counterpart Tindra Holm stopped 32 of the Hawks' 33 shots on net.
- LIU held a 31-19 edge in faceoffs won.
- The pair of losses drops the Hawks into third place in the NEWHA standings, while LIU remains undefeated in league play at 8-0.
