MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team suffered their second consecutive overtime loss to Assumption University during Saturday's series finale of the Northeast-10 Conference clash at the Sullivan Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks applied early pressure on the Greyhounds, firing seven shots in the opening five minutes of the game. Junior Hunter Brackett (Harwick Port, Mass.) slotted the puck past Assumption goalie Thomas McLarnon off an assist from senior Alec Grace (Laguna Hills, Calif.) to give Saint Anselm the 1-0 advantage at the 4:44 mark.
- Shortly after, senior Will Christensen (Ridgefield, Conn.) doubled the Hawks' lead on a power play goal with junior Mark Blaney (Braintree, Mass.) and senior Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.) being credited with the assists.
- Assumption would string together the next 17 shots of the period with freshman goalie Cam Carroll (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) posting nine saves to keep the Greyhounds off the scoreboard. With under three minutes remaining in the opening frame, the Greyhounds lit the lamp twice in 32 seconds to tie the game. Assumption first capitalized on a power play opportunity with a score by Ronny Paragallo. The Greyhounds tied the game, 2-2, at the 17:53 mark when Ryan Decker stole the puck in the Hawks' zone and rifled a shot into the upper corner.
- Junior Max Burum (Marshfield, Mass.) found the back of the net at the 4:56 mark of the second period to take back a 3-2 advantage. Carroll would make another seven saves to preserve the Hawk's' one-goal lead heading into the third period.
- With less than five minutes left in the final period of regulation, Jonathan Surrette notched an unassisted goal to send the game into overtime for the second straight evening.
- As the overtime period neared an end, Leo Piandes would score the game-winning goal with just 1:13 remaining to secure the 4-3 win for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 39-31 in the contest, while Saint Anselm held a slight 16-15 edge in blocks.
- Saint Anselm won the faceoff battle in the game after winning 40-of-63 from the circle.
- Brackett notched his second score of the season after leading the team with five total shot attempts. Christensen tallied his first goal of the year while Burum registered his third, which is now tied for the team lead with Schwartz.
- Carroll made 35 saves for the Hawks in net, recording 10 or more saves in all three regulation periods, plus one stop in overtime.
- Saint Anselm is now 34-14-3 in the all-time series against Assumption.
