Abbey Bevens (Pelham, N.H.) scored two goals while senior
Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) and sophomore
Marissa Politano (Acton, Mass.) added one apiece to lead the No. 5 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm field hockey team to a 4-1 win over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State during a Northeast-10 Conference clash on Saturday at Jess Dow Field.

- The Hawks play host to Saint Michael's College on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in a 5:00 p.m. match-up at Grappone Stadium, the first of three straight home contests for the Hawks, who also host New Haven and American Int'l Oct. 14 and 18, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The host Owls got on the board first, scoring in the 11th minute when Tori Geaglone tallied her ninth goal of the season for SCSU to take a 1-0 advantage.
- Bevens opened the Hawks scoring in the 13th minute, scoring off one of the Hawks two penalty corners in the opening frame thanks to a helper from Laurentien van den Akker (Geldrop, The Netherlands).
- Bevens added her second of the contest and sixth of the 2023 season in the third period, again off a corner opportunity, giving Saint Anselm a 2-1 lead.
- Politano joined in the scoring in the 43rd minute, sending in a Grace Michael (Hampton Falls, N.H.) pass for her third score of the season, extending the Hawks lead to 3-1.
- Davis added her sixth of the year a little over 10 minutes later off a Politano pass for the final scoring of the afternoon.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The two goals for Bevens marks the first multi-goal game of her career as a Hawk.
- Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Twp., Maine) recorded two saves in goal for the Hawks while Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) saw action in a little over three minutes of the game.
- Saint Anselm held a 24-5 edge in shots on the afternoon including an 11-1 edge in the third period.
