HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks opened the scoring early in the first period after Lewandowski found the back of the net off the assist from senior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) to make it 1-0. At the 6:04 mark, Lewandowski connected with Davis again to give Saint Anselm a 2-0 advantage heading into the second period.
- Lewandowski had an opportunity to put the Hawks up 3-0 after winning a penalty stroke early in the second period, but her shot would go high over the cage. Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Township, Maine) made two stops late in the period to keep Saint Michael's off the board.
- In the third period, Saint Anselm posted seven early shots forcing five saves from Saint Michael's goalkeeper Riley O'Connor. At the 37:29 mark, Lewandowski ripped a shot past O'Connor finding the bottom right corner to tally her hat-trick.
- Saint Anselm continued to push their attack in the fourth period firing eight shot attempts in the opening six minutes. The Hawks earned a penalty corner at the 51:06 mark leading to a scramble in front of the Purple Knights cage before sophomore Millie Forster (Cheshire, England) squeezed a shot through a crowd of defenders to eventually seal the 4-0 victory for Saint Anselm.
