HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior defender Grace Michael (Hampton Falls, N.H.) put the Hawks on the scoreboard just four minutes into the game, firing a pass from junior Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.) into the goal for the early 1-0 edge.
  • Junior Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) doubled Saint Anselm's lead five minutes later, scoring her 10th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Millie Forster (Cholmondeley, Cheshire, England).
  • After a scoreless second period, Forster scored a goal of her own in the third, pushing the Hawks advantage to 3-0 thanks to a helper from junior Abby Breznyak (Oakland, Maine).
  • Mercy tacked on their only goal of the game with just under 10 minutes remaining in the fourth period, but sophomore Maggie Burchill (Braintree, Mass.) responded with a score just over a minute later to help seal the 4-1 victory over the Mavericks.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Lewandowski's goal was her team-leading 10th of the season. Forster is now tied for third on the team with eight goals on the year.
  • Senior Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Twp., Maine) recorded one save in goal on the afternoon, facing only two Mercy shots on target.
  • The win improves the Hawks to 16-3 overall while Mercy's season draws to a close at 8-10 on the year. The game marked Mercy's first bid to the NE10 Championship since joining the league as an associate member in 2019.
