HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Saint Anselm got off to a fast start, scoring the game's first goal just over a minute into the contest and jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Senior alternate captain Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) lit the lamp first for the Hawks, scoring her first goal of the season assisted by senior captain Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Brenna Young (Wilmington, Mass.).
  • At the 12:54 mark of the opening period, McCaffery joined the scoring party on a goal of her own assisted by Weber to double Saint Anselm's lead.
  • Junior Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) was the third different goal scorer for the Hawks, slotting home an unassisted goal after a scramble in front of the Sacred Heart net just 39 seconds after McCaffery's goal.
  • Less than five minutes into the second period, sophomore Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.) played a give-and-go combination with junior alternate captain Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) right in front of the Pioneer net, resulting in Schneiderhan finishing the fourth goal of the game for Saint Anselm.
  • Less than 24 hours after notching a hat trick, senior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) found the back of the net once again, putting the Hawks ahead, 5-0 midway through the second period. Schneiderhan and Weber picked up an assist each on the play.
  • The Pioneers broke the shutout with their first goal of the game early in the third period, courtesy of Cassie Nevers. Neither team would score for the final 15 minutes of regulation as the Hawks skated to their fourth win in NEWHA play.
