HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After serving a two minute tripping penalty early in the first period, Tulchinsky made amends by scoring the game's first goal 4:55 into the contest. Her goal was set up by junior alternate captain Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) and sophomore Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.). Turner fired the initial shot that was saved, but Tulchinsky was there to finish the rebound and put the Hawks up, 1-0.
- Saint Anselm doubled their lead just before the end of the first period. During a Hawks power play, senior alternate captain Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) made a beautiful pass from the blue line to the far post, where McCaffery was waiting for the one-time finish. Freshman Julianna Herman (The Pas, Manitoba, Canada) also earned an assist on the goal at 17:06 of the first period.
- Midway through the second frame, Tulchinsky found her second goal of the game to put the Hawks ahead 3-0. Ridge picked up her second assist of the game on the goal, while senior alternate captain Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) also tallied a helper on the play.
- With three and a half minutes remaining in the second period, Tulchinsky scored her third goal of the game, completing the hat trick for the second time of her career. The goal, assisted once again by Turner, was a short-handed goal that came during a Pioneers power play.
- Sacred Heart got on the board 18:08 into the second period. Isabella Chaput scored her first of three consecutive goals for the Pioneers. Chaput went on to score two more times in the first seven minutes of the third period, both assisted by Kate Helgeson, to complete her hat trick and make it just a 4-3 Hawks advantage.
- Just over two minutes later at the 8:57 mark of the final period of play, McCaffery fired home an insurance goal for Saint Anselm, as the Hawks went ahead, 5-3. Popick and Weber each picked up their second assist of the contest.
- The Hawks would see out the clock, even with the Pioneers goaltender pulled for the final 90 seconds, to hold on for the 5-3 win.
