Men's Soccer Shutout at No. 1 Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. - Nationally-ranked No. 1 Franklin Pierce University remained perfect on Wednesday night, defeating the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team by a final score of 4-0.
 

UP NEXT:
  • Saint Anselm has concluded the 2023 regular season. The Hawks have qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference postseason tournament for the first time since the 2009 campaign, but will have to wait another week for the seeding to shake out.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • It did not take long for Franklin Pierce to assert themselves on offense, scoring two goals in the opening 15 minutes of action. Caleb Williams opened the scoring for the Ravens 11:23 into the match, while Aaron Sanchez added a second goal for the home team two and a half minutes later.
  • Saint Anselm limited the damage and headed into halftime down just two goals.
  • Less than five minutes into the second half, Franklin Pierce found the back of the net for a third time with Alvaro Rey Mira scoring shortly following a Ravens corner kick.
  • 55 minutes into the game, senior goalkeeper Alejandro Correal (Bogotá, Colombia) checked in off the bench to replace sophomore goalkeeper David Hood (Manchester, N.H.), who made two saves prior to exiting the match. Correal went on to make one save.
  • The Ravens added one final goal in the 74th minute with Younes Addar Khanoussi putting his side ahead 4-0.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Franklin Pierce outshot Saint Anselm 20-1 in the game, while also holding an eight to nothing advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Ravens attempted four corner kicks in the match, while the Hawks attempted none.
