HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Stonehill's Lucie Turcotte scored the lone goal of the opening period at 16:13.
- The Hawks were not short on chances, outshooting the Skyhawks 13-to-9 in the first, including two each from senior Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.), senior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.), and sophomore Brooklyn Schneiderhan (Helena, Mont.).
- Neither side scored in the second period after a 12-to-10 shot advantage for Stonehill.
- The third period saw three more goals for the Skyhawks in the 4-0 final over the Hawks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Popick, Schneiderhan, senior Brinna Martin (St. Michael, Minn.), and junior Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) all tied for a team-high three shots.
- Freshman Courtney Stagman (Andover, Minn.) finished with 26 saves in goal.
- Martin, Popick, and senior Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) each tallied three blocks.
- The Hawks won the face-off battle, 31-30.
