Bevens’ Second-Career Multi-Goal Game Lifts Hawks Over Molloy

SEAFORD, N.Y. – Senior Abbey Bevens (Pelham, N.H.) led the way with a pair of goals as the nationally-ranked No. 6 Saint Anselm College field hockey team notched their fifth-straight victory, defeating Molloy 4-2 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Senior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) scored the game's opening goal, her eighth of the season, in the 11th minute to put the Hawks ahead, 1-0.
  • Junior Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) tallied her seventh goal of the year off an assist from Davis to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage in the 19th minute.
  • The Lions cut the deficit in half with Aly Anderson's goal in the 25th minute to make it a 2-1 game at the half.
  • Bevens opened second-half scoring her eighth goal of the season in the 33rd minute off an assist from Lewandowski for a 3-1 lead.
  • Molloy again cut it to one with Olivia Specht's goal in the 47th minute, but Bevens netted her second of the game off another Lewandowski pass in the 50th minute for a 4-2 advantage that eventually went final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • This is the second-career two-goal game for Bevens, with the previous time coming earlier this season in a 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut State.
  • Senior Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Twp., Maine) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.
  • Saint Anselm held a 24-15 edge in shots on the afternoon, including an 8-2 advantage in the final period.
  • Davis' ninth assist of the season leads the Hawks. Lewandowski's pair of assists moved her to a tie for third on the team with four.
  • Bevens (nine goals), Davis (eight goals), and Lewandowski (seven goals) lead the team in scoring on the season.
