WORCESTER, Mass. – The fifth-seeded Saint Anselm College women's tennis team had its second consecutive bid in the Northeast 10 Championship tournament come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-0 to No. 4-seeded Assumption University at the Assumption Tennis Courts. 

UP NEXT

• The Hawks (4-8) conclude their fall season and are off until the spring. Assumption (13-3) advances to face top-seeded Adelphi in the semifinals of the NE10 Championship on Friday, Oct. 20. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The doubles tandem of Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) and Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) posted the Hawks lone victory on the afternoon, fighting their way to a 7-5 victory at No. 1. Assumption took the No. 2 and No. 3 match-ups to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. 
• Garbo and Osante also posted first-set victories in their singles match-ups, but before their matches could conclude Assumption completed wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to end the match early, 4-0. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Garbo finishes the fall with a 9-3 overall record in singles play, one win ahead of her eight a season ago. Osante finished 5-5 overall and the tandem posted a 5-4 mark in the No. 1 doubles spot.
