MANSFIELD, Mass. - For the first time this season, fifth-year
Anthony Brown (Belton, Texas) has earned the Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. The star wide receiver led the Hawks to an upset win, 13-9, on the road against the University of New Haven on Saturday.
Brown, who normally asserts himself in the passing game, stood out for Saint Anselm running the ball with five carries for 20 yards and two rushing touchdowns. The Texas native also hauled in his lone catch of the day in the fourth quarter that went for 63 yards, setting the Hawks offense up right outside the red zone on the way to their game-winning touchdown with seven minutes remaining.
The win marked just the fourth ever for Saint Anselm against New Haven, and the first against the Chargers on the road since the 2014 season.
Brown and the Hawks are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Worcester, Massachusetts for a 12:00 p.m. game with Assumption University.
