MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team heads to Springfield, Mass. for the International Volleyball Hall of Fame (IVHOF) Division II East Region Clash on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10.
The Hawks will battle Daemen (N.Y.) and Bentley on Friday before taking on Molloy and the hosts of the clash, American International, on Saturday.

With a win in set one over Shorter (Ga.) in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational, the Hawks posted a program record for consecutive set wins at 19. Saint Anselm also posted a win in each of its first seven matches, pushing the 2022 squad out to one of its finest starts in program history. The Hawks did end up closing the invitational with a 2-2 record, grabbing wins over Kentucky State and Shorter but fell to Harding and nationally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney.
The Wildcats posted a win over Franklin Pierce before falling to Clarion in a tri-match on Sept. 4. The team later grabbed a win over Mercyhurst on Sept. 5 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Both of the squad's wins have come in straight sets while their loss came in four.
After opening with four wins in the Sandy Hoffman Tournament on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27, the Falcons dropped three of four at the UIndy Invitational. Bentley posted a 3-1 win over Ohio Dominican to open the day on Sept. 3. At the invitational, Bentley suffered losses to Grand Valley State in straight sets and then to the hosts Indianapolis and Ashland by 3-2 scores.
Molloy has had six of its seven matches end in straight sets. The team's most recent match at Dominican (N.Y.) went in favor of the Lions by a 3-1 score. Molloy has dropped matches to nationally-ranked Wayne State, Charleston, and Post but posted wins over Nyack, New Haven, and Southern Connecticut State.
The defending Northeast-10 Conference champions, American International, are off to a 6-1 start to 2022. The Yellow Jackets posted a 3-1 record at the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament, only falling to the hosts in Bentley, 3-1. The team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and posted wins over Shaw, Slippery Rock, and nationally-ranked Nova Southeastern.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior Lauren Casey (Jefferson City, Mo.) leads the Hawks with 82 kills, good for an average of 3.57 per set which is third best in the NE10. Casey has posted double-digit kills in each of the last three matches for the Hawks which includes a 24-kill effort in the five-set win over Shorter.
- Sophomore Gabby Belcher (Buckeye, Ariz.) and junior Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz.) rank second and third on the team with 57 and 52 kills each this season.
- Senior Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) was named the NE10's Libero of the Week on Monday. She is averaging 4.43 digs per set which is second best in the conference and her 124 digs ranks third in the NE10. Belmontez can pass Kathleen McCarthy '06 for eighth all-time in career digs. Belmontez currently sits at 1,054 while McCarthy closed her time on the Hilltop at 1,087.
- Senior Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) is averaging 9.33 assists per set and has already accumulated 224 helpers in 2022. Her assists per set ratio is second in the conference.
- Freshman Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky.) and junior Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) are second and fourth in the conference in hitting percentage at .405 and .371.
- Sophomore Kennedy Scheppler (Lubbock, Texas) is third in the NE10 with 0.75 service aces per set. The Hawks are averaging 2.45 service aces per set which is second in the conference.
SCOUTING DAEMEN (N.Y.)
- Maggie Burns leads the Wildcats offense with 27 kills. Burns and Sam Logan are averaging 3.00 kills per set through nine and seven sets played each.
- Dunja Masic has posted 91 assists in nine sets this season, good for an average of 10.11 per set. She is also tied for the team lead with Vanessa Kuliga with six service aces each.
- Jasmine Brundage is averaging 4.33 digs per set and had totaled a team-high 33 in 2022. Burns follows closely with 29 digs.
- Kuliga is the Wildcats' top blocker this season. She has three solo blocks and two assisted for five total blocks. Amelia Armstrong follows with two solo and two assisted for four blocks this season.
SCOUTING BENTLEY
- Ellie Wheeler has registered 94 kills this season with Ingrid Murphy ranking second with 68. The duo is averaging 3.13 and 2.43 kills per set each respectively.
- Natalie Thom and Amanda Parker have split time as the setter for Bentley. Thom leads the squad with 148 assists while Parker is second with 134.
- Jazzy Burke is averaging 3.40 digs per set and has a team high 102 digs in 2022. Murphy ranks second on the Falcons with 89 digs.
- Amanda Parker has posted two solo blocks and 22 assisted for 24 total blocks this season. Katie Rounds follows closely with four solo and 14 assisted for 18 total.
SCOUTING MOLLOY
- Kiarra Roth has registered a team-high 59 kills through seven matches for the Lions. She is averaging 3.28 kills per set and has a hitting percentage of .312.
- Canyen Rodriguez has 111 assists to lead Molloy this season. Julia Zalta has 65 helpers in 15 sets played to rank second on the team.
- Molloy is averaging 2.84 service aces per set, led by Kathleen Doherty who has 11 aces and is averaging 0.58 service aces per set.
- Aria Miller is averaging 4.58 digs per set, coming from a team-high of 87 digs. Doherty ranks second on the Lions with 45 digs.
SCOUTING AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
- Aleksandra Ivanovic ranks fifth in the NE10 and leads the Yellow Jackets with 3.04 kills per set, totaling 70 kills in 2022. Andrea Serra Rosa, the reigning NE10 Player of the Year, ranks second on the team with 64 kills.
- Naomi Eckert Rivera leads the Yellow Jackets and the NE10 with 10.29 assists per game and a total of 247 assists.
- Perla Rosa leads the American International defense with 73 digs in 20 sets, good for an average of 3.65 per set.
- Amber Williams leads the team with 30 blocks. Williams has seven solo blocks and 23 assisted, both of which are team-highs.
ALL-TIME vs. DAEMEN (N.Y.), BENTLEY, MOLLOY, AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
- The Hawks and Wildcats will meet for the third time at the East Region Clash. Each squad has won one match with Saint Anselm taking the most recent meeting on Oct. 19, 2019, three sets to two.
- Bentley owns a 34-3 record all-time against Saint Anselm in volleyball. The Falcons have won each of the last four meetings including last season in straight sets on Sept. 28, 2021.
- This will be the seventh meeting all-time between the Hawks and Lions. Molloy won the most recent matchup, 3-2, which came in the 2019 Division II NCAA East Region Championship Semifinals on Dec. 6, 2019.
- The Yellow Jackets and Hawks will be battling for the 38th time. American International grabbed its 28th win in the all-time series with a 3-1 win on Nov. 12, 2021.
