MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team welcomes Roberts Wesleyan and New Haven to the Hilltop for a pair of matches from Melucci Field.
The Hawks play their final non-conference tune-up against Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday, Sept. 7 before opening Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 10 against New Haven.

The Hawks posted a pair of 2-1 wins over Caldwell and Saint Michael's in non-conference action to open the 2022 campaign. Saint Anselm took a 2-0 lead in both matches but both opponents found late goals to make things interesting down the stretch. After battling the Redhawks and the Chargers, Saint Anselm heads to cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
The Redhawks are 2-2-0 to open the season. They dropped contests to Findlay and Walsh but posted wins over Saint Michael's and Malone. The matchup with the Hawks marks their final match before opening East Coast Conference play against Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The Chargers have opened 2022 with a loss in each of their first three contests. The team has fallen to Bridgeport, Mercy, and Dominican, all by one goal. Before coming to the Hilltop, New Haven hosts Alliance in their final non-conference match before opening conference play.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior Jackson Bukunt (Upton, Mass.) has netted a goal in each contest for Saint Anselm and is the team leader with two goals and four points. He is credited with one game-winning goal and one opening goal.
- Senior Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) and junior Josue Assantha (Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo) has registered one goal each. Assantha has recorded the other game-winning goal for the Hawks while Silverstein has made the Hawks one-for-one on penalty kick attempts.
- Senior Michael Fortin (Goffstown, N.H.) and sophomores Caden Leader (Durham, N.H.) and Aiden Lehane (Assonet, Mass.) have recorded one assist each. Lehane's assist against Caldwell marked the first assist and point of his collegiate career.
- Senior Brian Underhill (Westford, Mass.) has started both matches in the goal for Saint Anselm. With the win over the Purple Knights, Underhill collected his 10th collegiate win. He has turned aside 12 shots on goal this season and owns a 1.00 goals-against average to go with a .857 save percentage.
- The Hawks have won each of their first two matches for the second consecutive season.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN
- Justin Robertson, Dylan Ruiz, and Alex Vega Perez are tied for the top spot on the Redhawks offense with two goals each. All three student-athletes sit at five points, having recorded one assist each to go with their goals on the young season.
- Ollie Ardle and Tamas Nagy have found the back of the net one time each for Roberts Wesleyan. Both student-athletes have one assist on the season as well.
- Jared Gibbons has played every minute of all four matches in the goal for the Redhawks. He holds a 1.25 goals-against average and a .783 save percentage.
- Roberts Wesleyan holds an 8-5 edge in goals over their opponents. Both of their losses have come by one goal while their wins have been by 3-0 and 3-1 scores.
- This season, the Redhawks are 1-2 in matches played at home while they are 1-0 on the road.
SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
- Guillem Barnils and Tyler Pereira are responsible for the Chargers two goals this season. Barnils has attempted a team-high seven shots with three of them on goal.
- Dante Polletta has the lone assist for New Haven on the year.
- Themis Kastoris has turned aside 13 shots in 270 minutes worth of action in the goal for the Chargers. He has a 1.67 goals-against average and a 0.722 save percentage.
- New Haven has dropped each of its matches this season by one goal margins, falling to Bridgeport and Dominican by 2-1 scores and fell to Mercy 1-0.
- The team is 0-2 when playing at home and 0-1 when on the road.
ALL-TIME vs. ROBERTS WESLEYAN, NEW HAVEN
- This will be the fourth meeting all-time between the Hawks and Redhawks. Saint Anselm is 2-1 in the series all-time.
- The Hawks took last season's meeting by a 1-0 score in Rochester, N.Y. Assantha netted his first goal of the 2021 season in the 89th minute to give Saint Anselm the win.
- Saint Anselm and New Haven will battle for the 19th time on Saturday. The Hawks are 8-7-3 in the series with the Chargers.
- Prior to last season's meeting in West Haven, Conn., the Hawks were unbeaten in the three previous matchups with the Chargers (2-0-1). However, New Haven grabbed a 2-0 win to snap the trend.
