MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team makes its home opener on Saturday, Oct. 1 against the University of Maine.
Following Saturday's home opener, the Hawks will host Concordia (Canada) on Sunday, Oct. 2 in an exhibition contest.

The Hawks dropped both games to Mercyhurst University to open the 2022-23 season. Saint Anselm enters play this weekend with a 0-2-0 record and will play a home-and-home series against nationally ranked Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8 following the contests against Maine and Concordia.
The Black Bears fell to nationally-ranked Quinnipiac in a pair of home games by 3-2 and 3-0 scores. The season opening 3-2 loss came in overtime. Maine opens Hockey East play on Friday, Oct. 7 when they host the University of New Hampshire from Orono, Maine.
The Stingers opened their 2022-23 season with a 3-2 win over Toronto Metropolitan University and then grabbed wins over Guelph and Waterloo on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. The team went 1-2-0 at the Theresa Humes Cup. Following the contest at Saint Anselm, the Stingers head to Cornell for another exhibition game on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior goaltender Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) turned aside 75 shots in the pair of games at Mercyhurst. Kelley ranks second in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance in saves in the early going. Kelley owns a 4.00 goals-against average and a 0.893 save percentage.
- Senior Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.) and junior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) are tied for the Saint Anselm lead with six shots each.
- Golini and sophomore Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) return as the top two scorers for Saint Anselm from last season. Golini posted 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points while Turner followed closely with 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points.
- Prior to the opening contest on Sept. 23, head coach Jen Kindret, who is in her second season on the Hilltop, named her team's captains for the season. Golini and senior Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.) will wear the "C" and serve as co-captains while Kelley will be an alternate captain with an "A" on her sweater.
- Freshmen Brooklyn Pancoast (Helena, Mont.), Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.), Lilly Hartnell (Tampa, Fla.), and Ella Ridge (Chicago, Ill.) all made their collegiate debuts between the contests at Mercyhurst.
SCOUTING MAINE
- Ida Kuoppala and Mira Seregely netted each of the goals for the Black Bears through their first two games of the season. Kuoppala also has an assist to enter play on Saturday with two points.
- Kuoppala is tied with Courtney Colarullo with seven shots attempted for Maine in the pair of contests against Quinnipiac.
- Grace Heiting, Rahel Enzler, and Olivia King join Kuoppala with one assist each this season.
- Jordan Mattison started both games in the goal for Maine. Mattison stopped 59 shots on goals and owns a 0.908 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average.
- Last season, the Black Bears upset Boston College in the Hockey East Quarterfinals, downing the Eagles by a 2-1 score. However, they would fall to Northeastern University by a 3-1 score in the Semifinals. Maine closed 2021-22 at 15-19-1 overall and 12-13-1 in Hockey East tilts.
SCOUTING CONCORDIA
- The Stingers captured the 2021-22 U Sports Women's Ice Hockey National Championship, defeating Nipissing by a 4-0 score to claim gold for the first time in 23 seasons.
- In 2021-22, Concordia posted a 25-7-0 record including exhibition games. The team closed the season on a 13-game winning streak which started on Nov. 28 in a 9-0 win over Carleton.
- Concordia also captured the RSEQ Championship, taking both games over McGill by 3-0 and 4-1 scores.
- Sunday's game against Concordia is considered an exhibition game.
ALL-TIME vs. MAINE, CONCORDIA
- Maine and Saint Anselm will be meeting for the second time in program history on Saturday.
- The Hawks posted a 3-2 win over Maine to open the 2021-22 campaign. The win was the first non-league NCAA Division I victory for the Hawks.
- Golini netted a pair of goals in that contest with senior Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.) netting the game-winner on the power play early in the third period.
- Saint Anselm and Concordia will be meeting for the first time on Sunday.
- The Hawks were scheduled to play the HTI Stars in an exhibition last season but that contest was canceled.
- The last exhibition game the women's ice hockey program has played came in the 2019-20 when the Hawks battled the Connecticut Whale from Sullivan Arena on Nov. 9. The Hawks took that contest by a 4-3 score.
