MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team returns home for a pair of non-conference matches against Assumption University and NCAA Division I Stonehill College.

The Hawks and Greyhounds meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14 before the former Northeast-10 Conference foe in the Skyhawks come to the Hilltop on Friday, Sept. 16 for a 6 p.m. match.

The Hawks played to a 1-3 weekend at the International Volleyball Hall of Fame (IVHOF) Division II East Region Clash, falling to Daemen (N.Y.), Bentley, and American International, but grabbed a win over Molloy. Saint Anselm is now 8-5 overall and will open NE10 play at Franklin Pierce on Tuesday, Sept. 20 following the pair of non-conference matches.

The Greyhounds opened the season with a pair of losses to Mercy and Southern Connecticut State but opened NE10 play with a 3-2 win at Saint Michael's, moving to 1-2 on the season with a 1-0 mark in conference matches. After coming to the Hilltop, the Chargers will host New Haven on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The Skyhawks are off to a 0-8 start in their first season competing at the NCAA Division I level. The team most recently fell to Saint John's (N.Y.) in straight sets. After coming to Stoutenburgh Gymnasium, Stonehill will host Saint Michael's on Saturday, Sept. 17.

HAWKS NOTES

• Senior Lauren Casey (Jefferson City, Mo.) leads the Hawks with 116 kills this season, averaging 3.05 kills per set. Sophomore Gabby Belcher (Buckeye, Ariz.) and juniors Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) and Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz.) rank second and are tied for third on the team with 90 and 80 kills each respectively.
• Senior Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) has recorded 337 assists this season, good for an average of 8.64 per set. She ranks second in the conference in assists per set and her total assists are second most in the conference.
• Senior Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) is averaging 4.19 digs per set, good for a total of 180 on the season. Belmontez ranks fourth in digs per set and second in total digs when compared to the rest of the NE10. Belmontez ranks eighth all-time in digs at 1,110 and needs just 27 digs to surpass CC Chrisom '16 and Margaret Tereschuk '12 who finished their careers with 1,135 and 1,136 digs each respectively.
• Wetjen and Brown are the leading blockers for Saint Anselm this season, totaling 34.0 and 32.0 blocks each this season.
• As a team, Saint Anselm is averaging 2.32 service aces per set, which is fourth-highest in the conference. The Hawks also lead the NE10 in total assists with 498 and in total points at 714.5. The team has posted a league-high 537 kills.

SCOUTING ASSUMPTION

• Alexis Distasio leads the Greyhounds offense with 45 kills this season, good for an average of 3.46 kills per set. Anna Dean and Carly Goodhue are tied for second on the team with 32 kills each.
• Kyra Belden has a team-high 66 helpers with Tatiana Calderin ranking second with 32 assists.
• Brandi Montoya is the Greyhounds defensive leader with 50 digs in 13 sets, averaging 3.85 per set.
• Dean has recorded a team-high 5.0 blocks coming from three solo and two assisted blocks.

SCOUTING STONEHILL

• Jentry Allen leads the Skyhawks offense with 48 kills on 176 swings, good for an average of 2.18 kills per set. Mia Berardino and Lauren McCloskey follow closely with 39 and 38 kills each.
• Molly Turner has thrown up a team-high 95 assists while Delaney Mihelich has added 77 assists as the tandem has split time as the team's primary setter.
• Kristen DeLorenzo is averaging 3.96 digs per set, having totaled 91 to lead the Stonehill defensive efforts.
• McCloskey and Kaitlyn Watson have posted four solo blocks and seven assisted blocks each to tie for a team-high 11.0 total blocks.

ALL-TIME vs. ASSUMPTION, STONEHILL

• This will be the 53rd meeting all-time between the Hawks and Greyhounds. Saint Anselm is 32-20 against Assumption in women's volleyball.
• The Hawks are currently riding a nine-match winning streak against the Greyhounds as Saint Anselm took both meetings during the 2021 season, both in straight sets.
• The win streak dates back to Sept. 2, 2016 and six of the nine meetings have ended in three sets.
• Saint Anselm and Stonehill will be meeting for the 43rd time with the Skyhawks holding a 24-18 record against the Hawks.
• This will be the first meeting with Stonehill competing at the NCAA Division I level.
• Last season, the squads met three times with the Skyhawks winning the series two matches to one. Stonehill grabbed a 3-0 win on Sept. 23 before the Hawks grabbed a 3-2 win on Oct. 19. The programs met in the NE10 Quarterfinals on Nov. 16 with that match going in favor of Stonehill by a 3-1 score.
