MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team extended its set winning streak to 15 with a pair of straight set wins over Roberts Wesleyan College and Kutztown University on Sunday from Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

With the win, Saint Anselm remains unbeaten through its first five matches, marking the second consecutive season the volleyball program has started 5-0. The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 2 from Owensboro, Ky. for the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational. The Hawks battle Kentucky State and Shorter (Ga.) at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Friday's tri-match.

Freshman Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky.) led the Hawks offense with 18 kills on the day, posting a .484 hitting percentage between the two matches. The Redhawks took an early 3-1 lead but the Hawks responded with nine consecutive points to take a 10-3 lead. On the nine point run, Kidd registered three of four kills for Saint Anselm. Roberts Wesleyan went on to record seven of the next nine points to cut the Hawks lead to three at 12-9. The Hawks outscored the Redhawks by a 7-4 margin the middle of the stanza before using five consecutive points to put themselves on set point following an attack error by the visitors. The Redhawks posted four consecutive points to continue to extend the set but a kill by Brown closed the opening set, 25-17.

Saint Anselm jumped out to a five-point edge to open the second set and used a five-point run to pull away in the frame. Three errors by the Redhawks and a kill each from Wetjen and Casey gave the Hawks their run, extending the lead to 14-4. The squads traded points down the stretch, giving Saint Anselm a 2-0 lead in the match following the 25-14 set win.

The third set saw Saint Anselm jump out to and early lead once again, recording six the first seven points in the set. The Hawks posted three service aces in the opening of the frame. After a strong middle of the match for the hosts, the Redhawks responded with five of eight points to cut a 15-7 Hawks lead down to 18-12. However, the Hawks behind a kill from Kidd, a Redhawks error, and a pair of kills from senior Colleen Chen (Superior, Colo.) pushed the set to 23-13.
