The Hawks made their first appearance in the NCAA postseason in 2021 after going 10-6-2 with a 7-5-1 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. The team captured a win over Bentley on Nov. 7, marking their first win in the conference playoffs since the 2006 season. Saint Anselm posted a shutout streak of nearly 449 minutes in 2021, which stands as one of the longest in program history. The women's soccer program was one of five teams to watch for 2022 by the New England Soccer Journal.
The Tigers fell to Jefferson in the CACC Semifinals which ultimately ended their season at 12-5-2 and 9-2 against conference opponents. Holy Family has qualified for the CACC tournament for the 23rd consecutive season and has appeared in the semifinals on 19 occasions.
HAWKS NOTES
- Head Coach Joel Bancroft enters his fifth season on the Hilltop in 2022. The team became just the ninth squad in program history to reach the 10-win mark in a single season last fall.
- Saint Anselm was selected sixth in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, marking the best placement for the Hawks since the 2008 team was slotted in fifth.
- The Hawks brought in 10 student-athletes for the 2022 with nine freshmen and one transfer, joining the 19 returners to bring the roster to 29.
- Junior Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.) netted eight goals and assisted on two others for a team-high 18 points in 2021. Gotobed was named to the NE10 Second Team All-Conference, the NEWISA All-New England Team, and to the United Soccer Coaches East Region Second Team last season.
- Senior Kathryn White (Georgetown, Mass.) and junior Delaney Glode (Kennebunkport, Maine) were also named to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team last season. Sophomore Riley DiGilio (Danvers, Mass.) joined Gotobed on the NEWISA All-New England Team.
- Senior goalkeeper Kate Macaluso (Malverne, N.Y.) posted a 1.21 goals-against average and a 0.761 save percentage on her way to a 10-6-2 record in 2021. Macaluso started in all 18 games for the Hawks last season.
SCOUTING HOLY FAMILY
- Head Coach Jill Reeves enters her 11th season at the helm of the Tigers women's soccer program.
- The reigning CACC regular season champions were selected to finish second in the conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Jacqueline Ziegler recorded 20 points last season on six goals and eight assists. She returns as the team's leading scorer and was named CoSIDA Academic All-America, D2CCA All-East Region, and to the All-CACC First Team last season.
- Maura Kilkenny and Grace Joyce collected All-CACC honors last season and are both back for their junior and sophomore seasons for the Tigers in 2022.
- The Tigers return 22 student-athletes from last season's roster and have a roster size of 27 entering the 2022 slate.
ALL-TIME vs. HOLY FAMILY
- This will be the third meeting all-time between the Hawks and Tigers. Saint Anselm is 2-0 against Holy Family all-time.
- The most recent meeting came on Sept. 7, 2019 and resulted in a 1-0 victory for Saint Anselm in overtime.
- Previous to that matchup, the programs first met on Aug. 29, 2008 in Manchester, N.H., resulting in a 4-1 win for the Hawks.
