SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • With Saturday's game against Saint Rose, the Hawks will have played seven games in a row against opponents listed in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's national poll, including ranked and those "receiving votes" outside of the top 20.
  • The Hawks limit the opposition to just a 72.2% success rate on clears, ranking fourth in NCAA Division II. Saint Anselm commits just 15.12 turnovers per game, ranking third in the country and leading all NE10 programs in that metric.
  • Jack Robinson's seven assists against Georgian Court on Mar. 5 are the second-most in a single game by any NCAA Division II men's lacrosse player this season.
  • Against Franklin Pierce in the defeat, the hawks held distinct advantages in every major offensive statistic, except for goals – Saint Anselm fired 57 shots and limited Franklin Pierce to just 28 attempts, but the Ravens put home five of the last six goals in the game's final 18-plus minutes in stunning fashion.
  • In the loss to Franklin Pierce, Saint Anselm also committed fewer turnovers (18-to-10), failed on just one of its 19 clears on the evening, and collected 29 of the game's 48 ground balls.
  • Three scored twice for Saint Anselm against the Ravens, including senior Ben Genest (Salem, N.H.) and his career-high two markers. Junior AJ Caprio (Scituate, Mass.) performed admirably for Saint Anselm on face-offs, winning 14-of-22 draws and picking up six ground balls to set career-high marks in those figures.
  • Junior Ryan Slattery (North Andover, Mass.) caused two turnovers in the game against Franklin Pierce, giving him 40 in his career – he now ranks 10th all-time in team annals in that metric. His 1.54 caused turnovers per game (across 26 contests) is second all-time, trailing only Saint Anselm Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Kevin DeBenedetto '10.

SCOUTING SAINT ROSE

  • The Golden Knights have killed off 81.2% of the opposition's man-up advantages, ranking third in the NE10 and seventh in NCAA Division II.
  • Against Saint Michael's last time out, Saint Rose turned the ball over just seven times and was a perfect 22-for-22 on clearance attempts. The Golden Knights also held the advantage in shot attempts, 49-to-35.
  • In the game against American International, the Golden Knights won just three of the 26 face-offs but pulled out the 15-7 victory on Apr. 2.
  • Eddie Baker has poured home six man-up goals, leading the NE10. His 31 goals with nine assists for 40 points (31-9=40) places him first or tied for first among his teammates in all three categories.
  • Cam Smith ranks just behind Baker in point production, scoring 27 goals with five assists for 32 points (27-5=32). Three others (Gabriel Nish, Jack Pemrick and Brendan Sheedy) have at least 23 points of offense for Saint Rose.
  • Ryan Fleming has stood tall in net for Saint Rose, logging a 61.2% save percentage to rank fifth in the country while trailing only Le Moyne's Frank Delia (61.3%). Five netminders, including Fleming, have seen action for the Golden Knights this season.

ALL-TIME vs. SAINT ROSE

  • The Hawks are 7-2 in the all-time series against the Golden Knights that dates back to 2012, the first year of competition for Saint Rose.
  • Last time out, in 2019, Saint Anselm pulled away to record a 19-11 victory at Grappone Stadium. The tandem of Anthony Busconi '19 and Matt Ward '21 combined to score eight goals on the way to a convincing victory over the Golden Knights.
