MANCHESTER, N.H. – The No. 19 Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team dropped its Northeast-10 Conference tilt with No. 18 Assumption University by a 16-9 score on Tuesday.
The Hawks drop to 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in NE10 play while the Greyhounds improve to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in conference contests. Saint Anselm is back in action at No. 16 Stonehill College on Saturday, Apr. 9. The opening draw control from North Easton, Mass. is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Senior
Jenna Balboni (Billerica, Mass.) led all players with five goals in the contest, bringing her career total to 97. With three goals, Balboni would become just the 10th Saint Anselm student-athlete to reach the 100 career goal mark. Balboni needs one point to tie
Beth Millian '08 for 11th all-time in career points on the Hilltop.
With one assist in the contest, senior
Annie Richards (Reading, Mass.) tied Millian at 128 career points. Richards also needs just nine assists to become the first Saint Anselm student-athlete to reach 100 career assists.
Junior
Lexi Palmisano (Woburn, Mass.) was the lone other student-athlete for Saint Anselm to have multiple goals in the game.
Senior
Grace Young (Merrimack, N.H.) made 10 saves in goal for the Hawks, falling to 6-3 on the season.
Assumption broke the scoreless tie at 12:05 of the opening frame on a goal by
Jenna Joseph. Balboni responded for the Hawks just 34 seconds later to tie the contest at one. The teams traded scores late in the first quarter as

Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) found the back of the net for their teams.
The Greyhounds would score three consecutive goals in the final 2:26 of the first quarter which would build into an eight-goal run for the visitors as they took a 10-2 lead with 9:10 to play in the second quarter. Balboni would snap the streak at 8:01 of the second stanza before
Isabella Jackson and
Jill Good got the Greyhounds back on the board with two more goals. A Balboni tally with 2:02 left until the half, pushed the score to 12-4.
Saint Anselm held a 5-2 edge in scoring in the third quarter, powered by a three-goal run to close the quarter. Balboni, Palmisano, and sophomore
Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.) each found the back of the cage which got the Hawks to down five at 14-9. However, Assumption opened the fourth with an early goal to reestablish the six-goal lead before cashing in late to make the score 16-9.
Assumption held a 39-23 advantage in shots, including 26-17 in shots on goal. The Greyhounds also collected 11 ground balls to nine for the Hawks. Saint Anselm was 16-17 in clears compared to 14-of-16 for Assumption.
