WALTHAM, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team posted 6-4 and 8-6 wins at Bentley University in Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division doubleheader sweep.
With the wins, the Hawks improve to 11-14 on the season and have won four consecutive conference games, moving to 4-3 in NE10 play. The Falcons fall to 5-17 overall and 0-7 in league games. The teams conclude their four game series on Sunday, Apr. 3 with the opening pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. from Waltham, Mass.
Junior
Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) led the Hawks in game one with two hits in three at-bats while senior
Kyle Maurice (Exeter, N.H.) drove in two runs. Maurice and sophomore
Zack Clough (Newbury, Mass.) both scored two runs in the 6-4 win.
Sophomore
Matthew Michel (Haverhill, Mass.) improved to 3-1 on the season after allowing four runs on six hits in four innings of work. Junior
Avery Mosseau (Bedford, N.H.) recorded three hitless innings in relief, collecting his second save of the season.

Nolan Elmore (Brentwood, N.H.) led the Hawks with two hits in game two. Junior
Brady Doran (Greenville, S.C.) launched his third home run of the season and drove in a team-high three runs in the 8-6 game two win.

Will Hunter (Middleton, Mass.) earned his second win of the season in relief, throwing for 2.1 innings and allowing just one hit. Junior
John Donovan (Lowell, Mass.) made his team-leading seventh start of 2022 and allowed three runs on two hits in three innings of work. Senior
Andy Grygorcewicz (Northampton, Mass.) registered 1.2 innings of relief work in game two.
GAME ONE: Saint Anselm 6, Bentley 4
Bentley struck first in the bottom of the second inning as
Eddy Beauregard doubled to lead off the inning before advancing on a fly out and scoring on a ground out by
Liam Sears.
The Hawks plated three runs in the top of the third as Maurice doubled to score senior
Matt Collins (Beverly, Mass.) and Clough, who reached on an error and a walk. Borrelli drove a ball through the left side to score Maurice, giving the Hawks a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth as
Charlie Auditore and Beauregard netted two singles to open the inning. Sears doubled, scoring Auditore but Beauregard was thrown out at the plate, scoring only one run.
Tyler Gonzalez followed with a single to score Sears, tying the score at three before
Cory Bright singled to score Gonzalez, giving Bentley a 4-3 lead.
Saint Anselm responded in the top of the fifth with two runs in its half of the fifth inning. Clough, Maurice, and Borrelli reached base via a single and a pair of walks to load the bases. Senior
Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) walked with two outs to score Clough followed by Elmore getting hit by a pitch to score Maurice which pushed the score to 5-4.
In the top of the sixth, Saint Anselm added an insurance run as Doran scored on an error after leading off the frame with a single.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Falcons went three up and three down to close game one with the Hawks taking a 6-4 win.
GAME TWO: Saint Anselm 8, Bentley 6
The Hawks netted the game's first run in the top of the second as Maurice doubled and reach third on a wild pitch. After a pair of outs, Elmore singled to left field to score the opening run.
In the top of the third, Saint Anselm extended its lead to 3-0 as graduate student
Salvatore Pezzolla (East Greenbush, N.Y.) registered a sacrifice fly to score Doran who led off the inning with a walk. Borrelli singled which scored Collins who reached on a single, earlier in the inning.
Bentley rallied and tied the game in the bottom of the third as Bright and
Kyle Halloran reached on a hit by pitch and a walk before
Jackson Walonis doubled, plating Bright. A single by Beauregard drove in two runs, tying the score at three.
In the bottom of the fifth, Bentley took a 6-3 lead after a pair of hit by pitches and a walk loaded the bases. Another hit by pitch brought in one run before back-to-back walks brought in two runs. The Hawks got out of the jam with a strikeout as Bentley left the bases loaded.
With one out in the top of the sixth, Pierro singled before freshman
Danny Kent (Hanson, Mass.) added single of his own with two outs. Doran would step in and launch a three-run home run to right field tying the score at six.
Saint Anselm recorded two more runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-6 lead. Pezzolla would single up the middle to open the inning before stealing second and advancing to third on an error. Pezzolla scored on a wild pitch after a Pierro walk setting up Elmore who singled home Pierro to give the Hawks the two-run lead.
After a pop out and a ground out, Gonzalez got himself in scoring position for the Falcons with a two-out double but a ground out to third would close the contest, giving the Hawks the doubleheader sweep of Bentley.
