Saint Anselm won its first three games of the season before recently falling to No. 1 Le Moyne and No. 3 Adelphi. The Hawks hadn't lost two or more games in a row since April 10-13, 2019 and saw a 19-game regular season winning streak come to an end with the loss to the top-ranked Dolphins.
Wilmington made its collegiate debut on the lacrosse field in 2018 and will be competing against Saint Anselm for the first time on Wednesday. The Wildcats are 4-3 overall and come into the game with a three-game winning streak, defeating Saint Michael's, Lake Erie and Caldwell in that order.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Saint Anselm took on Adelphi, ranked No. 3 in the country, last time out and fell by a 15-14 margin. The Hawks had a chance to tie the game in the final 30-plus seconds of play, but a shot was denied by the Adelphi backstop.
- Junior Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.), graduate student Sean Tomaszewski (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) led the way for Saint Anselm against Adelphi with four-point performances. Tomaszewski paced the team with three goals while Robinson and Larsen recorded two goals and two assists.
- Senior Kyle Fisher (Nashua, N.H.) had four caused turnovers and three ground balls, earning NE10 Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday while junior Ryan Slattery (North Andover, Mass.) forced three miscues by Adelphi, reeling in four ground balls. Graduate student Will Palmer (Concord, Mass.) collected five ground balls for the Hawks in the midfield.
- Robinson ranks sixth in NCAA Division II with 2.8 assists per game while Fisher is 12th nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.2). Senior netminder CJ Hart (Reading, Mass.), who made 13 saves against Adelphi, is 12th nationally with an 8.72 goals-against average – he owns a 20-6 career record for Saint Anselm in goal.
- As a team, the Hawks limit opponents to just a 72.4% success rate on clearances to rank fifth nationally. The team's 11.4 caused turnovers per game is the ninth-finest average in NCAA Division II.
- Sophomore Nick Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) ranks 15th all-time with 36 career assists through just two seasons with the Hawks. He needs just five to crack into the program's top-10 list for helpers.
- Among active Northeast-10 Conference coaches, Mike Sciamanna ranks third with a .654 winning percentage (53-28 all-time).
