MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team will square off with Saint Michael's College in the First Round of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Championship tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 1. The opening puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. from Sullivan Arena.

The Hawks swept their weekend series from the Purple Knights by 3-1 and 4-2 scores on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26. With the wins, Saint Anselm secured the third seed entering the NEWHA Championship. The Hawks are 14-12-3 on the season and closed conference play with an 11-6-3 mark.
The Purple Knights dropped both weekend contests against the Hawks, falling to 3-22-1 overall and 1-18-1 against NEWHA opponents. Saint Michael's enters the NEWHA Championship as the sixth seed.
The winner of Tuesday's First Round matchup will advance to the semifinals of the NEWHA Championship which is hosted by Franklin Pierce University. The Ravens are the top seed in the conference while
Long Island University is the second seed. Both of those programs have a bye in the First Round and will await the winners of Tuesday's games. The semifinals are set for Friday, Mar. 4 while the Championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 5 from the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Since the start of the new year, the Hawks posted an 8-2-2 mark to close out the season with wins in each of their last four contests.
- In its first season playing exclusively against National Collegiate level competition, Saint Anselm has posted wins over teams from Hockey East, ECAC Hockey, and the NEWHA. The Hawks captured a season-opening win over Maine on Oct. 2 before scoring wins over Dartmouth and Brown on Nov. 28 and Dec. 2 to close out their non-conference slate.
- When playing at home, Saint Anselm enjoys a 10-2-1 record on the season compared to a 4-10-2 mark when playing on the road.
- Freshman Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) and senior alternate captain Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.) are tied for fourth in the NEWHA in points with 27 each. Senior captain Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.) is in sixth in the league with 26 points.
- Turner, a four-time NEWHA Rookie of the Week and the conference's Rookie of the Year, leads the Hawks with 13 goals and is third with 14 helpers. The last time a Saint Anselm freshman reached 27 points in a season was Katy Meehan '21 when she posted 30 in her first season on the Hilltop. Turner needs 10 points to tie the record for most points by a freshman, which is held by Arianna Rigano during the 2006-07 season.
- Against the Purple Knights this season, Turner has scored four goals and assisted on four others for eight points. On Jan. 21, the freshman netted her first collegiate hat trick at Saint Michael's.
- Golini ranks second on the Hawks in goals (12) and assists (15) for 27 points, which is a career-high. The senior's assist total is a career-high as well. For her career, Golini has scored 38 goals and assisted on 36 others for 74 points. The senior was named to the NEWHA All-Conference Second Team.
- In the weekend finale against the Purple Knights, Golini posted three goals and two assists for five points between the two games.
- Meyers recorded three assists against Saint Michael's on Feb. 26, which ties a season high. The senior captain ranks fourth in the NEWHA with 17 assists, adding nine goals for 26 points. She has set a career-high for goals and has tied her career-high in points this season. Meyers is a NEWHA All-Conference First Team selection.
- Against the Purple Knights this season, Meyers has two goals and five assists for seven points.
- Freshman Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) and sophomore Brinna Martin (St. Michael, Minn.) rank fourth and fifth on the team in points as Ressler has 11 (3-8=11) while martin has 10 assists for 10 points.
- Junior netminder Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.), a NEWHA All-Conference Second Team selection, leads the conference in saves (925) while ranking second in save percentage (.935) and fourth in goals-against average (2.43). Kelley is the Saint Anselm single-season record holder for saves in a single season, which was set earlier this season. On the National Collegiate level, Kelley ranks third in saves and 11th in save percentage.
- Kelley is 3-0-0 against Saint Michael's this season. She has allowed four goals on 49 shots on goal, good for a 1.33 goals against and a .918 save percentage.
- The Hawks netted three power play goals in the regular season finale and are now operating at 9.9% with the extra skater, scoring 12 goals in 121 power play chances. The team is killing penalties at 86.2%, allowing 17 goals on 123 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The Purple Knights enter the NEWHA Championship on a five-game losing streak. The team posted a 5-1 win over Post on Feb. 18 but have fallen to Post, Long Island, and the Hawks to conclude the regular season.
- Saint Michael's is 0-13-0 when playing on the road this season, compared to a 3-9-1 mark when at home.
- Mikaela Langbacka and Ella Saracco are tied for the team lead in points with 10 each. Saracco leads the Purple Knights with seven goals and has added three helpers. Langbacka has posted 10 assists in the season.
- Angelina Ruiz ranks second on Saint Michael's in goals with six while Jenna Hoops is third with five. The duo is tied for third on the team with nine points each.
- Leah White has drawn 14 starts in the goal for the Purple Knights this season. She holds a 4.29 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. Carissa Mudrak has started in nine contests for Saint Michael's. She has a .887 save percentage and a 4.91 goals-against average.
- The Purple Knights have netted eight goals in 101 power play chances, good for a 7.9% conversion rate. The team is killing its penalties at 77.4%, allowing 21 goals in 93 shorthanded opportunities.
ALL-TIME – NEWHA POSTSEASON
- Saint Anselm is 5-2 all-time in the NEWHA postseason. The Hawks have qualified for the NEWHA Championship game three times, taking home the conference title once in 2018-19. The team fell to Long Island University in the most recent NEWHA Championship game in 2019-20.
- Saint Michael's owns a 1-3 record in the NEWHA postseason. The team advanced to the semifinals of the 2018-19 conference postseason but fell to the Hawks, who eventually won the conference crown.
- The programs are meeting for the third time in the NEWHA postseason with the Hawks enjoying a 2-0 mark against the Purple Knights.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The NEWHA First Round matchup marks the 49th meeting in the all-time series between the Hawks and Purple Knights. Saint Anselm is 46-0-2 against Saint Michael's.
- Earlier this season, the Hawks netted a 6-1 win on Jan. 21 before the teams skated to a 1-1 tie on Jan. 22.
- On Feb. 25 and Feb. 26, the Hawks skated to a pair of wins by 3-1 and 4-2 scores over the Purple Knights, taking the season series with a 3-0-1 record.
- Saint Anselm won the first 43 meetings in the all-time series, dating back to Dec. 3, 2004. Since skating to a scoreless draw on Jan. 14, 2020, the Hawks are 3-0-1 against the Purple Knights.
