Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Porazinski, Turner lift women's ice hockey to 5-2 win at Post

SHELTON, Conn. – A pair of goals by junior Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.) and freshman Tyra Turner (Andover, Mich.) propelled the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team to a 5-2 win over Post University in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action on Friday.

The Hawks improve to 9-11-3 overall and to 6-5-3 in NEWHA contests. The Eagles fall to 5-19-0 on the season with a 2-11-0 mark against the conference. The squads match up on Saturday afternoon from Shelton, Conn. with the opening puck drop scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Turner tied a women's ice hockey program record with 18 shots on goal in the win. In the contest, the freshman attempted 21 total shots to help Saint Anselm remain undefeated against Post (16-0-0).

Turner posted a team-high four points with two goals and two assists. Porazinski matched the freshman with two goals while junior Margaret Sullivan (Burlington, Mass.) opened the scoring in the contest. Senior alternate captain Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.) dished out three assists and has six helpers in her last three games played.

After a scoreless first period, Sullivan scored her third goal in as many games at 14:24 of the second stanza. Sullivan was parked on the doorstep and redirected a pass from freshman Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.).

The Eagles needed just 15 seconds to knot the score at one as Sheridan Terrazzano beat Hawks goaltender Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) from the left face-off dot.

Porazinski gave Saint Anselm a 2-1 lead at 17:48 of the period as she finished off a rebound chance off a shot Turner. She later added to the Hawks lead early in the third period with a power play goal, collecting a pass from Ressler in the slot to beat Eagles netminder Kaitlyn Daly, giving the Hawks a 3-1 lead.

Turner added insurance to the Saint Anselm lead with a pair of goals in the third frame. The first came at 9:28 of the period as the freshman cashed in a rebound chance off a shot attempt by sophomore Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.). Her second of the game came 4:22 later as Turner potted another rebound goal, this one coming off her own initial shot.

Elle McKenna fired a slap shot from the point to cut the Saint Anselm lead to three at 17:30 of the stanza. The shot attempt traveled through traffic in front, finding the back of net to push the score to 5-2.

Both squads were one-for-two on the power play in the contest.

Kelley stopped 13 of 15 shots on goal in the winning effort. Daly faced 44 shots on net, making 39 saves for the Eagles.
