MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team netted three third period goals on its way to a 5-1 win over Franklin Pierce University in Friday night Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Hawks improve to 10-10-2 on the season with a 7-5-2 mark in NE10 play. The Ravens fall to 6-14-1 overall and 3-8-1 in conference contests. The teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon from Sullivan Arena with the opening puck drop slated for 4 p.m.

Max Burum (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded two assists each for the Hawks.

Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) made 19 saves in the contest which now puts him at 565 for the season which is ninth best in a single season in program history, passing
Jason Rafuse '07 and
Robert Kang '14 who are tied with 562.
Early in the first period,
Will Wolford managed to beat Howard but the shot attempt rang off the right post.
Saint Anselm would net the first goal of the game as Hayes collected a cross ice pass from senior
Sean Healy (Quincy, Mass.) and fired a snap shot into the upper left corner of the goal, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead at 11:14 of the first period.
The Ravens responded with a power play goal at 15:13 of the period as
Cody Rumsey cleaned up a rebound chance off a shot by
Vito Carlo.
The Hawks grabbed the lead in the final minute of the second period as Murphy fired a wrist shot through traffic, beating Ravens net minder
Kyle Martin on the power play. That gave Saint Anselm a 2-1 lead headed to the second intermission.
Saint Anselm added to its lead in the opening minute of the third stanza as Hammersmith forced a turnover while shorthanded and found Hayes with an outlet pass. Hayes fired a shot from the top of the slot, allowing for a rebound which Hammersmith would clean up for his fifth goal of the season.
Schwartz added insurance just 1:59 later was he cashed in on shot attempt from Burum, pushing the score to 4-1.
Iacullo would put the contest out of reach when he one-timed a cross ice pass from Burum into the twine for his second tally on the year at 15:39 of the final period.
The Hawks held a 48-20 shots on goal advantage in the contest. Both squads netted one power play goal with Saint Anselm going one-for-four with the extra skater compared to one-for-five for the Ravens.
