The Hawks carry a 10-7 overall record into play, logging a 6-4 mark against Northeast-10 Conference teams. Saint Anselm is coming off a convincing 77-63 victory at Saint Rose on Tuesday, Jan. 28 – the squad's Saturday afternoon game at Southern Connecticut State was postponed due to inclement weather.

Assumption was handed a 74-63 loss to Le Moyne on Saturday, dropping to 8-9 overall on the year and to 5-8 against the league. Prior to that defeat, the Greyhounds had won three games in a row, including the 400th career victory at Assumption for head coach Kerry Phayre on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Fans attending Wednesday's game are expected to familiarize themselves with the College's spectator and ticketing policies.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Across the last three games, the Hawks are shooting 32-for-74 (.432) from the three-point arc, the team's best shooting percentage from distance all season.
  • Sophomore Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week for the sixth time on Monday. In total, Saint Anselm has been awarded seven of the 11 rookie awards issued this season.
  • At Saint Rose on Tuesday, Turco was 9-for-15 from the floor and finished with 27 points, five assists and three rebounds in her team's 77-63 victory. She logged 12 points in the first half and scored 15 more in the final 20 minutes, shooting five-for-seven and making all four of her free throw attempts down the stretch.
  • On the season, Turco is averaging 17.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Hawks. Leading all rookie scorers in the NE10 in points per game, Turco has reached double-digit point scoring totals in all but one game. In her last two games, she has handed out 14 assists.
  • Senior Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.) dropped 29 points in the victory over Saint Rose, making 10-of-21 shots from the floor while adding four rebounds. Matching a career-high with five three-point baskets in the game, Steinman has now scored at least 25 points in seven of her 17 games to date and is 11th in NCAA Division II in points per game (20.6).
  • Steinman's 135 career three-point baskets moves her into fifth all-time in team history, passing Katie Qualter '97 and her 133 treys. She remains the program's all-time leader in free throws made (426) and her .845 career free throw percentage is third (426-for-504).
  • The senior needs just three field goals made on Wednesday to reach 500 in her career – she would become the 10th in team history to reach that milestone.
  • Senior Jenoyce Laniyan (Bedford, N.H.) had a career-high eight rebounds in 15 minutes of game play against Saint Rose. On the season, Laniyan is shooting 13-for-24 (.542) from the floor and has thrown up seven blocks on the season.

SCOUTING ASSUMPTION

  • Despite a 74-63 loss at Le Moyne on Jan. 29, the Greyhounds shot a season-high 50% from the floor (28-for-56). Assumption has shot north of 36.2% in each of the last four games, responding to a stretch of shooting under 35.9% in the prior five games, all losses.
  • Assumption has committed an average of 17.9 turnovers per game, ranking in the bottom half of all NCAA Division II programs in miscues. The team's defense, however, is limiting opponents to just a 22.5% success rate from beyond the arc to rank fifth in the nation.
  • The Greyhounds are shooting nearly 40% from the floor on the road (10 games) as opposed to 33.7% at home (seven games).
  • Meghan Cramb averages 2.35 three-point baskets per game for the Greyhounds, leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (38.8%) and three-point field goals made (40).
  • Marina Callahan and Monica Spain are averaging north of one blocked shot per game, ranking in the top-15 of NE10 student-athletes in that metric.
  • Phayre now has 418 career victories in her time between NCAA Division I Columbia and Assumption.

ALL-TIME vs. ASSUMPTION

  • Saint Anselm is 52-29 in the all-time series with Assumption, winning five of the last six games. The last regulation loss against Assumption came on Feb. 7, 2017.
  • In the narrow overtime defeat against the Greyhounds on Feb. 13, 2019, Assumption made a game-tying layup as time expired in regulation before a last-second three-point basket pushed the visiting team to a 65-64 win in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
  • The Hawks won 35 of the first 41 games against the Greyhounds in the all-time series.
