MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team will head to crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals Round battle on Thursday, Nov. 10.
The match between the NE10's fifth-seed, the Hawks, and the fourth-seed, the Penmen, is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve. The winner will advance to the Semifinals Round and will battle the winner of the top-seed American International and the eighth-seed Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Nov. 12 from the campus of the highest remaining seed following the four quarterfinals match.

The Hawks posted a pair of straight sets wins over the University of New Haven on Nov. 4 and Southern Connecticut State University on Nov. 5 to conclude the regular season. Saint Anselm enters the NE10 postseason with a 20-8 overall record and a 9-3 mark in league matches. The conference regular season win by the Penmen gave them the tie breaker for the fourth-seed.
The Penmen posted a 3-0 win over the College of Saint Rose to conclude their regular season on Nov. 5. With the win, Southern New Hampshire improved to 15-6 on the season and a 9-3 record in NE10 play.
HAWKS NOTES
- With the win over the Owls, the Hawks reached 20 wins in a single season for the second time in the last three full seasons of competition.
- The 2022 squad becomes just the fifth team in program history to reach 20 wins in a single season.
- The team also set a program record to begin the season with seven consecutive wins and a consecutive set winning streak of 19.
- Senior Lauren Casey (Jefferson City, Mo.) ranks third in the NE10 with 294 total kills, good for an average of 3.23 kills per set. Casey ranks sixth in the conference in that metric.
- Junior Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz.) and sophomore Gabby Belcher (Buckeye, Ariz.) rank second and third on the Hawks with 203 and 199 kills each.
- Senior Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) is averaging 8.87 assists per set and has a total of 789 through 27 matches this season. Compared to the conference, Henwood is fifth in total assists and in assists per set.
- Henwood also leads the Hawks in total service aces with 42. As a team, Saint Anselm ranks seventh in all of NCAA DII and second in the NE10 with an average of 2.40 service aces per set. Henwood, Casey, Brown, and junior Alina Barbarena (Los Angeles, Calif.) have 35 or more service aces each this season.
- Senior Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) can become the fifth Saint Anselm student-athlete to reach 1,300 career digs as she enters play with 1,298 digs. She leads the Hawks with 368 digs this season with ranks sixth in the conference.
- Junior Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) leads the Hawks net defense with 73.0 blocks in 2022, averaging 0.81 per set. Wetjen is seventh in the conference in total blocks. She leads the team with 23 solo blocks and 50 assisted.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- Ana Pimenta leads the Penmen offense with 244 kills, good for an average of 3.39 kills per set which is third-highest in the NE10.
- Sara Montefameglio was named the NE10 Setter of the Week for her performance to close out the regular season. Montefameglio is averaging 8.51 assists per set with a total of 502 assists.
- Montefameglio also leads the Penmen with 31 service aces, part of a group that is averaging 1.84 service aces per set and 138 total aces.
- Deanne Wilson ranks third in the conference with 4.67 digs per set and ranks eighth in the NE10 with 350 digs.
- Leading the Penmen net presence is Alice Arletti who has 59.0 total blocks this season. Arletti has eight solo and 51 assisted blocks, averaging 0.84 blocks per set.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- This will be the 61st meeting in the all-time series and the third of the 2022 season between the Hawks and Penmen. Each side has won 30 matches in the series.
- The teams split their two regular season meetings as the Hawks grabbed a 3-1 win in non-conference action on Oct. 18 from Stoutenburgh Gymnasium but the Penmen posted a 3-0 win on Oct. 26 in conference play to split the series.
- The Hawks have posted a win in 10 of the last 13 matches against the Penmen, dating back to the beginning of the 2016 season.
ALL-TIME, NE10 POSTSEASON
- The Hawks are making their 14th NE10 postseason appearance in 2022 and are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament.
- Saint Anselm owns a 3-16 record all-time in NE10 postseason play.
- The last Hawks win came in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2019 season in a five-set thriller over New Haven.
- Saint Anselm suffered a 3-1 loss at Stonehill in the 2021 NE10 postseason, marking the program's most recent appearance in the NE10 Tournament.
