SHELTON, Conn. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team concluded its fall semester with a 4-2 win over Post University on Tuesday.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 11-9-1 on the season with a 10-3-1 record in New England Women's Hockey Alliance play while the Eagles drop to 1-14-0 overall and 1-9-0 in league tilts. Saint Anselm will return to play on Saturday, Dec. 31 when they welcome Merrimack College to the Hilltop for a non-conference game, scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.

Freshman Sydney Merritt (San Jose, Calif.), junior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.), graduate student Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), and sophomore Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) registered one goal apiece for the Hawks in the contest. Golini and Tulchinsky led the Hawks with two points each, adding one assist to their goals.

The Hawks would jump on the scoreboard first as Merritt netted her first collegiate goal on the power play at 9:15 of the opening frame. Merritt cleaned up a loose puck in front of the goal following a shot that was blocked by an Eagles defender.

Saint Anselm doubled its lead at 18:54 of the opening stanza. Tulchinsky buried a rebound chance off a shot by junior Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.), giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes of play.

Golini extended the Hawks lead to three with a power play goal at 7:08 of the second period. Sophomore Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) managed to keep the puck in the attacking end for Tulchinsky who sent a cross-crease pass for Golini. The graduate student redirected the puck into the back of the net, giving Saint Anselm a 3-0 lead.

Sheridan Terrazzano netted the Eagles goal, making the score 3-1 with a goal in the final minute of the second period. Terrazzano collected a cross-ice pass from Madeleine Noonan and fired a wrist shot into the upper half of the goal.

The Hawks would regain their three goal lead on Turner's ninth goal of the season. Turner managed to win a one-on-one battle on the doorstep and would fire a shot that beat Eagles goaltender Grace Glasrud at 16:16 of the third period.

Julia Wysocki netted a power play goal for the Eagles with 55 seconds left on the clock, pushing the score to final of 4-2.

The Hawks held a 45-21 edge in shots on goal in the contest and was two-for-five on the power play. The Eagles netted one power play goal in six opportunities. Five Saint Anselm student-athletes recorded one blocked shot each in the tilt.
