PREVIEW: Women's soccer battles Saint Rose in NE10 Semifinals

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team heads to the College of Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 Conference Semifinal round match on Thursday, Nov. 3.

The opening kickoff between the fifth-seeded Hawks and top-seeded Golden Knights is slated for 6 p.m. from the Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, N.Y. Live Statistics and Video will be provided by the Saint Rose Athletic Communications staff.

The Hawks posted a 2-1 victory over Southern Connecticut State University in the Quarterfinals round on Oct. 30 to advance to the Semifinals. Saint Anselm is now 10-6-1 on the season.

The Golden Knights registered a 3-0 win over Southern New Hampshire in the Quarterfinals and remains unbeaten at 15-0-3 this season.

The winner of this semifinal will advance to the NE10 Championship against the winner of second-seed Franklin Pierce University and third-seed Adelphi University.

HAWKS NOTES
  • Saint Anselm has qualified for the conference semifinals for the second consecutive season. The last time the women's soccer program has reached that feat was in the 1994 and 1995 campaigns.
  • The Hawks have posted at least 10 wins in back-to-back seasons which has not been done since the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
  • Saint Anselm is currently ranked sixth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches East Region poll which was release on Nov. 1 while ranking 10th in the NCAA Division II East Region poll, which was last updated on Oct. 23.
  • Junior Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Erin Rutherford (Ashburnham, Mass.) netted the Hawks goals in the Quarterfinals win over the Owls.
  • Gotobed leads the Hawks with six goals and 16 points while ranking second on the team with four assists. The junior was named to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team on Wednesday.
  • Sophomore Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.) leads the Hawks with five assists as she collected an assist on Gotobed's game-winner against the Owls. Pecor has netted four goals to added to her five assists for 13 points.
  • Rutherford and freshman Kayli Porter (Wakefield, Mass.) are tied for third on the Hawks with seven points each. Porter has three goals and an assist while Rutherford has two goals and three assists.
  • Senior Kathryn White (Georgetown, Mass.) and junior Delaney Glode (Kennebunkport, Maine) were All-Conference Third Team selections this season.
  • Senior Kate Macaluso (Malverne, N.Y.) was named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 31, the first career weekly accolade for the senior. Macaluso made seven saves on her way to her fourth win of the season. The senior owns a 0.97 goals-against average and a 0.865 save percentage.
  • Freshman Emma Hudson (Kingston, Mass.) collected NE10 All-Rookie Team honors on Wednesday. Hudson is 6-5-1 in 12 starts in goal with a 1.35 goals-against average and a 0.771 save percentage.
SCOUTING SAINT ROSE
  • The Golden Knights are the top team in both of the most recent United Soccer Coaches and NCAA Division II East Region polls.
  • Saint Rose moved to the No. 6 team in the Nov. 1 edition of the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, up one spot from the week before.
  • Kaelyn Britt, an All-NE10 First Team selection, is tied for the conference lead with eight goals this season and is tied with Gotobed for fourth in the NE10 with 16 points.
  • Mia Klammer, also an All-NE10 First Team Honoree, leads the conference with 23 points on seven goals and nine assists. Klammer is tied for second in goals and leads in assists, both in the NE10.
  • Five other Golden Knights were selected to the All-Conference teams with four of them finding spots on the First Team.
  • Pia Bozic has started all 18 games in the goal for Saint Rose. Her 0.899 save percentage and 0.38 goals-against average lead the NE10. Bozic has made 48 saves and allowed just six goals. Bozic was one of the selections to the All-Conference First Team.
  • Saint Rose has netted 46 goals in 2022 while allowing nine goals, which is tied for the fewest in the conference. 14 student-athletes have registered at least one goal this season.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT ROSE
  • The Hawks and Golden Knights are meeting for the 26th time in the all-time series on Thursday. Saint Rose is 17-4-4 against Saint Anselm in women's soccer.
  • Saint Rose took the regular season meeting by a 2-0 score on Oct. 1, also from the Plumeri Sports Complex.
  • The two programs are meeting in the NE10 postseason for the second consecutive season. With this match, each of the last three in the series will be from Albany, N.Y.
  • In the last five matches, the Golden Knights own a 4-0-1 record with the last Hawks win coming on Oct. 13, 2018 from the friendly confines of Melucci Field. Only one of those last five meetings have come from the Hilltop.
ALL-TIME, NE10 POSTSEASON
  • The Hawks are making their 23rd appearance in the conference postseason.
  • Saint Anselm owns an 9-20-1 record in the NE10 postseason play, including a 1-1-0 record last season and a 1-0-0 record in 2022.
  • The Hawks have qualified for the Semifinal Round now on 15 occasions and have been in the finals twice, capturing one conference crown in 1991 and finishing as the runner-up in 1990.
  • The last time the women's soccer program has made consecutive appearances in the Semifinal Round was in the 1994 and 1995 campaigns.
