Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball on losing end of 88-69 result at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team was tripped up on the road by Post University on Wednesday.

Saint Anselm, who recorded an 88-69 defeat, drops to 1-2 overall following the non-league tilt. Post, who rebounded from a 62-61 defeat to Southern New Hampshire last time out, improves to 2-1 on the season.

Miles Tention (Palo Alto, Calif.) scored a season-high 26 points, adding six rebounds in the defeat. Keith Robinson (Phillip Island, Australia) tallied seven points with a team-leading three assists as the Hawks shot exactly 40% (24-for-60) from the floor.

Post opened up a 10-point lead just 9:30 into the game, shooting 11-for-18 from the floor and taking advantage of six Hawks turnovers in that span. Saint Anselm made seven of its first 14 shots from the floor, but the miscues piled up as the Eagles finished the game with 22 points off 18 turnovers.

The Hawks trimmed the lead to just three points with a 9-2 scoring run, but Post pulled away with 15 of the final 20 points of the opener – the Eagles connected on each of their final seven field goals leading into the break.

A 23-6 scoring run near the midpoint of the second half put the game out of reach as Post secured a game-high lead of 74-46 at that point.

Post finished with the edge in rebounding (39-to-28).

Saint Anselm hosts Bentley this Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m. Prior to the tip, the Hawks will honor the memory of Christopher Rodgers '93 and the formation of the Memorial Men's Basketball Endowment Fund with a pre-game ceremony.
