Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's ice hockey skates past Sacred Heart, 7-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team recorded a 7-0 shutout of visiting Sacred Heart University on Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

The Hawks improve to 1-6 overall on the year while evening their New England Women's Hockey Alliance record at 1-1. Sacred Heart, who defeated Saint Anselm by a 6-3 margin less than 24 hours prior, falls to 3-4 (3-2 NEWHA).

Junior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) got the scoring started with a shorthanded goal in the first period as the Hawks never looked back, using six goal scorers and a 20-save shutout from netminder Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) to earn the victory.

Tulchinsky logged a team-best three points with a goal and two assists. Freshman Brooklyn Pancoast (Helena, Mont.) scored twice, her third and fourth goals of the season, and senior Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.) possessed a plus-five on-ice rating with two blocked shots.

Graduate student Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), competing in her 100th career game, scored with 31 seconds left in the first period, creating a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Pancoast scored twice in the second period, sandwiching a goal from sophomore Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.), to carry a 5-0 advantage into the third stanza.

Sophomore Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) tallied her team's sixth goal just eight seconds into the third period, burying a mishandled puck by the Sacred Heart netminder. Senior Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.) rounded out the scoring in the game's final minute, finishing off a wrap-around attempt by Tulchinsky near the far post.

Junior Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) had two assists in the inning effort and junior Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) also cashed in with an assist, setting up Tulchinsky's game-winner.

Sacred Heart saw goaltender Molly Elmore record 37 saves in defeat. Nicole Guidi and Kelly Solak, two all-NEWHA performers on defense, blocked four shots apiece.

Saint Anselm hosts LIU for a two-game series starting Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
