MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team hosts Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday on Senior Day before heading to Saint Michael's on Saturday to round out the regular season.

Saint Anselm is 3-7 to date, owning a 2-4 record in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks are looking to qualify for the postseason for the first time since the 2010-11 season (all NE10 teams earned a spot in the playoffs during the 2020-21 campaign).
Southern New Hampshire is undefeated this season, winning all seven NE10 fixtures to date. Three of those wins have been 7-0 victories with the closest margin coming against Le Moyne in the season-opener, 5-2.
Saint Michael's, on the flip side, is 0-6 in both overall and league play. All of the matches so far this season for the Purple Knights have been 7-0 defeats with the exception of a 6-1 decision at home against Assumption on Saturday, Sept. 17.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Saint Anselm will honor its lone senior prior to the match on Tuesday against the Penmen. Senior Anastasia Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine) has played at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles in her career, logging 13 wins in singles play and 14 victories in doubles play across all three flights.
- The Hawks are riding a three-match losing streak after beating Bentley and Assumption near the end of September. The closest loss in that span was a narrow 4-3 defeat to Franklin Pierce, who presently sits second in the NE10 standings behind undefeated SNHU with a 6-1 record.
- Freshman Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) has a 7-3 record at No. 1 singles for the Hawks, leading the team in singles wins. Classmate Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) has chipped in with six victories at No. 5 singles.
- As a team, the Hawks are 14-15 (.483) in doubles play. The tandem of sophomore Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Maine) and Heredia Osante has been the most productive, winning six out of a possible eight matches at No. 3 doubles. Garbo and sophomore Olivia Parzick (Bow, N.H.) are 5-4 at No. 1 doubles.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Penmen are 8-0, opening the season with an 8-1 victory at Nichols and winning eight matches in a row to date. Last time out, SNHU posted a 7-0 victory on the road at Saint Michael's on Saturday, Oct. 8.
- Magdalena Hubickova has posted a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles and is followed by Alina Kupfer and her 8-0 mark at No. 2 singles. In total, the Penmen have registered a 50-9 record (.847) in singles play.
- In doubles action, the partnership of Alexxa Etienne and Hubickova has yielded a 12-1 record. Verena Weindl and Kupfer is 11-2 on the season.
- Guntra Upeniece has won six singles matches in a row, all coming at No. 6.
- SNHU was bounced early in last season's NE10 postseason, falling against Franklin Pierce quickly by a 4-0 margin in the semifinals round.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The lone singles victory for Saint Michael's this season came via default against Assumption on Sept. 17, 2022. The team is 0-35 in the rest of its singles contests to date.
- Similarly, the Purple Knights have just one doubles win and it was via default against Assumption. The team is 0-17 in the rest of those contests.
- Saint Michael's has lost 18 matches in a row dating back to last season's 6-1 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The last win over an NCAA Division II program for the Purple Knights was against American International on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019.
- The Purple Knights are coached by Jerry Peach, in his first season. He is a long-time coach at the NCAA Division I and II levels, mentoring programs at Montana State, Montana State Billings and the Academy of Art University.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE, SAINT MICHAEL'S
- SNHU has won 20 matches in a row over the Hawks dating back to the 2005-06 campaign.
- Overall, Southern New Hampshire leads the all-time series by a 20-12 margin.
- The Purple Knights hold an advantage in the all-time series against Saint Anselm, 23-15.
- The Hawks have won five of the last six and six of the last eight over Saint Michael's.
- From Oct. 12, 1997 through Sept. 24, 2014, the Purple Knights claimed victory in 19 of 21 matches.
