MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team put up a season-high six goals on Saturday, earning a 6-2 win over Saint Michael's College in a Saturday afternoon Northeast-10 Conference tilt.
The Hawks improve to 8-9-1 overall and to 5-4-1 against the NE10 while the Purple Knights fall to 3-11-0 on the season and 3-7-0 against the league. Saint Anselm has a quick turnaround as the team heads to Stonehill College on Tuesday, Feb. 1 for a 7 p.m. opening puck drop from Bridgewater, Mass.
Senior
Kevin Ouellette (Arlington, Mass.) and junior alternate captain
Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) each netted two goals for the Hawks offense. Sophomore
Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.) and junior
Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) potted the other two Hawks goals. Andary, senior co-captain
Kilian Hammersmith (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and freshman
Luke Mix (Winchester, Mass.) each recorded two helpers in the win.
Schwartz got the Hawks on the board with his eighth goal of the season, coming on the power play at 5:01 of the opening period, collecting a pass from junior
Mark Leach (Londonderry, N.H.) and putting a shot over the shoulder of Purple Knights goaltender
Hugo Turcotte.
Saint Anselm doubled its lead at 9:48 of the period when Andary blocked a Saint Michael's shot attempt and collected the carom in the neutral zone. The junior capitalized on his breakaway chance against Turcotte for his team-leading 12th goal of the season.
Ouellette gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead with the team's second power play goal of the game. Ouellette one-timed a pass from Andary, beating Turcotte who was sliding across the crease to his right at 5:49 of the second period.
The Hawks tacked on their fourth goal of the game less than two minutes later as Hayes netted his third goal of the weekend on a wrist shot from the top of the slot.
Saint Anselm extended its lead to five on Ouellette's second goal of the contest when he batted a rebound out of the air and into the twine, opening the third period scoring at 3:30.

Sel Narby cut the Hawks lead to three when he netted a power play goal for Saint Michael's with just over a minute to play.
Andary cashed in an empty-net goal with 13 seconds left in the game to seal the Hawks 6-2 win.
Saint Anselm was two-for-four with the extra skater while Saint Michael's found the net once in four power play chances. Freshman
Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.) led the Hawks in the face-off circles, winning nine of the 36 face-off victories for Saint Anselm.
Howard stopped 21-of-23 shots on goal in the winning effort. Turcotte turned aside 30 of the Hawks shots on frame, including 15 in the final stanza alone.
