ALBANY, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team saw its modest five-game winning streak come to a close on Tuesday as Saint Rose pulled out an 84-70 victory over the Hawks.

Saint Anselm drops to 10-5 overall on the year and to 6-4 against Northeast-10 Conference competition. Saint Rose, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half, completed the comeback and moves to 7-7 overall and to 4-5 against the league.

Junior Tyler Arbuckle (Bristol, Conn.) scored 22 points, making six three-point baskets, in the defeat. Senior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) posted 18 points with six rebounds while classmate Miles Tention (Palo Alto, Calif.) dished out six assists. Junior Owen McGlashan (Marlton, N.J.) matched season-highs with 12 points and six rebounds.

Paul also equaled a career-high mark with three steals against Saint Rose for the second time of his career, first doing so on Jan. 29, 2020.

Down by a 9-7 margin in the game's first four-plus minutes, Saint Anselm shot off a 24-6 scoring run to take a 31-15 lead with exactly 10 minutes left in the first half. The Hawks were a dominant 9-for-11 from the floor, making four of their five attempts from distance, while taking advantage of six turnovers in the five-and-a-half minute span.

From that point, it was all Saint Rose who spanned the first and second half by scoring 29 of the game's next 36 points to take a 44-38 advantage just 54 seconds out of halftime. A later scoring spurt of 21-3 for Saint Rose further created distance between the teams with 11:54 to go in regulation time.

The largest lead of the game for Saint Rose came with 8:33 to go in the game as a layup following a Hawks turnover pushed the score to 72-51. The Golden Knights completed the comeback by winning the rebounding margin (45-to-31) and dominating the paint (52-to-36).

Saint Anselm heads to Saint Michael's this Thursday, Jan. 27 for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Purple Knights. The game was previously scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 30 but was postponed.
