MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team opens its 46th season as a varsity program this weekend. The Hawks will officially open the season by battling Stonehill on Sunday, Sept. 5 at high noon.

Saint Anselm finished the 2020-21 season with a 2-9 overall record. The Hawks also competed in the Northeast-10 Conference postseason for the first time since the 2011 campaign, falling to Bentley by a 4-0 margin.
Stonehill finished the season with an 11-4 overall record, falling by a 4-2 score in the NE10 Championship match. The Skyhawks earned a berth to the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, securing a hard-fought 4-3 win over Concordia (N.Y.) before falling to Franklin Pierce in the regional final.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- The Hawks roster features five newcomers in what is one of the largest recruiting classes in recent memory for the program. Saint Anselm also welcomes back all of its 2020-21 roster with the exception of seniors Dominique Bolduc '21 and Maikah Bulpitt '21.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Janiak (Nashua, N.H.) was named to the All-Rookie Team by the Northeast-10 Conference to conclude last season. Winner of NE10 Rookie of the Week honors on Apr. 20, she was the first All-Rookie team from Saint Anselm since Emily Jacy (Glastonbury, Conn.) earned the honor in 2018.
- Jacy will co-captain the team alongside junior Anastasia Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine). Across a three-year career on the Hilltop, Jacy has won 11 singles matches and has been a part of 10 doubles victories. Kapothanasis has eight singles and seven doubles wins to her credit.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
- Stonehill finished the 2020-21 season with an 11-4 overall record alongside an 8-2 mark versus NE10 foes. The team was ranked second in the final Oracle/ITA Division II East Region rankings revealed in June.
- The Skyhawks earned a spot in the NE10 Championship match for the seventh consecutive season and picked up the 15th NCAA postseason bid in team annals. On the way to the regional finals, Stonehill finished third in the NE10 regular season standings before making its run to the NE10 Championship match and NCAA Tournament.
- Juniors Cristina Solorzano Valencia and Steffi Antao found themselves ranked as a doubles pairing in the Oracle/ITA rankings. Solorzano Valencia was ranked fourth and Antao picked up a No. 10 ranking as a singles player.
ALL-TIME vs. STONEHILL
- The Skyhawks own a 34-11 record against Saint Anselm in the all-time series that dates back to Sept. 26, 1978.
- Stonehill has won 16 consecutive matches against the Hawks and ultimately owns wins in 26 of the last 28 contests since the 1996-97 season.
- The last Saint Anselm win came in decisive fashion. The Hawks closed out the regular season with a dominant 5-0 win against Stonehill on Apr. 18, 2007 in a match played within the Carr Center.
