MANCHESTER, N.H. – The regionally-ranked Saint Anselm College men's soccer team looks to get back into the win column on Saturday, Oct. 2 when No. 22 American International comes to the Hilltop for a 12 p.m. opening kick.

After posting a 4-0 victory over Stonehill on Sept. 22, the Hawks have dropped their last two Northeast-10 Conference contests at New Haven, 2-0, on Sept. 25 and against Saint Michael's, 2-1, on Sept. 28 pushing Saint Anselm to a 4-3 overall record and 2-2 in NE10 play. The Hawks will play their second consecutive nationally-ranked opponent on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when they travel to No. 2 Franklin Pierce.
The Yellow Jackets are riding an eight-match unbeaten streak and are winners in their last six matches. They are 7-0-1 and 4-0-0 in league matches. The last time out, American International posted a 3-0 result over Assumption on Sept. 28.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Junior Josue Assantha (Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo) has scored the last three Hawks goals dating back to the match against Stonehill on Sept. 22. He was responsible for the lone tally in the 2-1 loss against Saint Michael's. Senior Patrick Sorensen (Sturbridge, Mass.) was tied for the match-high with three shots in that affair.
- Senior Zach Elliot (Manchester, N.H.) registered an assist on the Assantha goal, making that his team leading third helper of the season. He also leads the team in goals (5) and points (13). Elliot and Assantha tied for sixth and seventh in the conference in goals. Elliot was tabbed as the NE10 Player of the Week on Sept. 6.
- Sorensen and juniors Jonathan Alves (Peabody, Mass.) and Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) have one goal each. The Hawks' offense primarily runs through Assantha and Elliot as they have accounted for nine of the 12 goals scored this season.
- Junior Brian Underhill (Westford, Mass.) made four saves on six shots on goal against Saint Michael's. Underhill now has a save percentage of .813 and a goals against average of 0.86 which rank third and fourth in the NE10. He also has compiled 26 saves which is fourth-highest mark in the conference.
- The Hawks have posted three shutout wins this season, coming in the season opener against Nyack, the second match of year at Roberts Wesleyan, and the win at Stonehill. Saint Anselm is 2-1 at home while 2-2 on the road through the first seven matches of the season.
SCOUTING AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
- The Yellow Jackets played to a 1-0 win over Mercy on Sept. 2 before posting a 1-1 draw with Bridgeport on Sept. 5. Since then, the Yellow Jackets have won six matches in row. Against Assumption on Sept. 28, Mathias Pilon St. Louis, Gael Martin, and Dirk Doppen all found the back of the net, pushing American International to a 3-0 win.
- Pilon St. Louis led the Yellow Jackets with four shots. The team posted 18 shots with 13 players registering at least one. Pilon St. Louis leads the team in goals with five, tying him with Elliot for sixth in the conference in goals.
- Samir Regragui has four assists which is tied for fourth in the conference. He posted two helpers against Caldwell on Sept. 15 and had another pair in the Sept. 25 win over Bentley.
- Lucas Morales-Fernandez has started all eight games for the Yellow Jackets. He ranks third in the conference in saves (31), second in save percentage (.838), and third in goals-against average (.77). Morales-Fernandez pitched a six-save shutout against Bentley.
- As a team, the Yellow Jackets have scored 27 goals while allowing just eight goals, marking a league best goal-differential of plus-19. American International has had 13 different players find the back of the net this season.
ALL-TIME vs. AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
- The Yellow Jackets have won the last eight meetings dating back to Oct. 20, 2012 and spanning through the last meeting on Oct. 5, 2019 which was a 2-0 win for AIC. The Hawks, however, hold the longest win streak of 21 matches from Sept. 18, 1982 to Oct. 13, 2003.
- Saint Anselm is 34-16-3 against the Yellow Jackets, marking this as the 54th meeting all-time. The first meeting came as the third match in the Hawks' program history on Oct. 7, 1967. The Yellow Jackets won that contest by a 7-3 score.
- On Sept. 30, 1998, the Hawks posted a 7-0 win over American International which represents the largest margin of victory in the all-time series.
