Women's tennis stopped by Assumption, 5-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team was downed by Assumption University, 5-2, on Sunday in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Saint Anselm falls to 1-5 on the year and to 0-4 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. The Hawks will try for their first league win on Sunday, Sept. 26, hosting Le Moyne at 1 p.m.

Assumption picked up 6-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, taking the early 1-0 lead in the match. The Greyhounds conceded just eight games in total to the Hawks across No. 1 through No. 4 singles, easing their way to the win.

Freshman Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Maine) was a 4-6, 6-0, 10-5 winner at No. 5 singles and Assumption defaulted at No. 6 singles for the other Hawks point. For Svor, it was her first collegiate singles victory after starting out the year with an 0-2 record.
