MANCHESTER, N.H. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College field hockey will take on East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, Sept. 19 at high noon.
The game will feature the nation's third-ranked team in Saint Anselm and the seventh-ranked Warriors from East Stroudsburg. Sunday's contest is also a re-match of the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship semifinals game that was won by Saint Anselm in double-overtime.

Saint Anselm fell to No. 8 Stonehill on Tuesday by a 3-2 score – the Skyhawks became just the second team since 2019 to score three goals against the Hawks in a game. Prior to that defeat, the Hawks had won their first three games of the season, including a 1-0 overtime thriller against Pace on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The Hawks were originally scheduled to play at nationally-ranked Adelphi on Saturday, but the contest will not be played as scheduled per the established institutional and conference COVID-19 health protocols.
East Stroudsburg enters play with a 3-2 overall record – the Warriors will battle Lindenwood on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. before a quick one-day turnaround to face the Hawks. Most recently, East Stroudsburg toppled fifth-ranked Kutztown by a 2-1 score on Tuesday, just five days after downing eighth-ranked Adelphi.
Fans traveling to East Stroudsburg, Pa. are expected to familiarize themselves with the hosts' spectator policy.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Against Stonehill last time out, the Skyhawks took leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the game and never looked back. Stonehill became just the second team since the start of the 2019 season to score three goals against Saint Anselm and the first since Lindenwood (Mo.) on Oct. 6, 2019.
- Freshman Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) drew the loss against the Skyhawks in goal, making five saves on eight shots. She has split time evenly with sophomore Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Township, Maine) – the duo has conceded just 1.22 goals per game so far and has posted a combined save percentage of .773.
- The Hawks are led by Maeve Murphy (Scituate, Mass.) and her team-leading six points of offense that have come via two goals and two assists (2-2=6). She has also ripped a team-best 12 shots, placing six of them on frame.
- Senior Carly LaCasse (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) is 14th among active NCAA Division II student-athletes with 0.41 goals per game. She ranks ninth all-time in team history with 49 career points (21-7=49) and her seven career game-winning goals ranks third all-time.
- Saint Anselm has outshot its opponent by a combined 77-to-34 margin this season despite posting a season-low shot total of nine at New Haven on Sept. 5. The Hawks opened with a season-best 27 shots against Franklin Pierce on Sept. 4 but since have logged double-digit totals against Pace and Stonehill.
- Head Coach Carolyn King-Robitaille has won a dominant 107 games for Saint Anselm across 10 years at the helm of the program. Under her watch, Saint Anselm has qualified for the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament in four-straight seasons (2016-19).
WATCHING THE WARRIORS
- A perennial power in NCAA Division II field hockey, the Warriors own a 3-2 overall record after beginning the year with two losses in a row. The team fell to then-No. 10 ranked Stonehill before dropping its second consecutive 1-0 game versus Assumption.
- Much like Saint Anselm, East Stroudsburg is tough to play at home. Since the start of the 2018 season, the Warriors enjoy a 17-3 record when playing at Whitenight Field.
- Three student-athletes have scored two goals for East Stroudsburg. Amy Supey has drawn all five starts in net for the Warriors, conceding just six goals on 21 shots faced for a .714 save percentage.
- East Stroudsburg is coached by Sandy Miller, who is in the midst of her 37th season with the program this year. She has racked up 446 wins in that span and guided the Warriors to their fifth consecutive national tournament appearance in 2019.
ALL-TIME vs. EAST STROUDSBURG
- The Hawks are 1-0 all-time against East Stroudsburg with the one victory standing as arguably the most important in program history.
- Emily Bevens '21 buried a penalty stroke goal in the second overtime period, lifting the Hawks to a 1-0 victory over No. 2 East Stroudsburg in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship semifinals on Nov. 22, 2019.
- With both teams failing to score through 60 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of the first overtime period, Hannah Friend '20 fired a shot on the goal that was kept out with a defensive save by East Stroudsburg. The ensuing rebound spilled out to the goal mouth before play was whistled down for a defensive infraction, awarding the Hawks a penalty stroke.
- The Hawks, who came into the NCAA Semifinals converting only one of their five chances on penalty strokes all season, turned to Bevens. The junior converted with a shot on the left side of the goal, beating East Stroudsburg's Maddie Richie for what was her first goal since Oct. 7, 2017 against New Haven.
- Saint Anselm would go on to lose to top-ranked West Chester in the National Championship game just two days later, 2-1.
